Here lately, first thing in the morning I'm having to turn on and off the monitor 10 to 15 times to get it warmed up I guess to finally stay on. After that it stays on and works fine the rest of the day, until the next morning when we have to go through the process again. I've hooked it up to another computer and it still does it so narrowed it to monitor. Anyone got any ideas whats going on with it? I've got it set to factory settings. If it's going out does anyone have a good reccomendation for just a new monitor (computer is fine). Want a good one but don't want to break the bank. Thanks

Newegg.com has a multitude of options for good prices.

Get ya a nice flat panel for a decent price. I have had great experiences with Newegg.

The old tube type are out dated, I have a few spares but they are not worth the cost to ship these days (heavy).
If you spend a lot of time at the puter, you deserve a nice monitor. (besides, it's Chrismas time). LOL

Enjoy your shopping!

Edit:   Read the reviews on each product that you look at (that will be your clue as to which ones are good for you).
Bad monitors will have bad reviews. I got a 22" flat panel on sale for $200 a few months ago from them, so cheap that I got one for my son as well.

Thank you Panzer.

A friend turned me onto that place many moons ago and I have built several puters with their parts.
Never a bad experience with them.

Had to share.

I also do a lot of business with NewEgg.com.  They are reliable and have fast shipping.  I bought a HP w2207h flat screen LCD monitor from them a few months back.  It's a 22" screen w/ 1600x1050 native resolution and has really great color and brightness.  It's a bit more then some other monitors but is an outstanding monitor.

If you are realy cheap, watch Craig's list in your area. I see monitors on there for free and a few $$ all the time. Granted they are the old CRT type, not LCD or plazma.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

I'm going at least LCD cause that's what we've got now. As long as I leave this one logged on, no problems. The problems start when logged off for a little while then try to power it up. Thanks for the headsup on Newegg, I checked out the one you got Craig, looks good to me. Alot of those brands on there I've never heard of before so a little sceptical of those. PoorUB, being the cheap bastard that I am (wife says anyway), that was the first thing I did was go to Clist but as Faast said, "it's Christmas time".

FaastEd & Craig are right on target!

My only purchase from NewEgg was this Maxtor 1touch 300 gig back up hard drive. Slick lil unit takes a snapshot of all my crucial files every morning at 0200. If the house catches fire I only need to grab this unit and run (about the size of a motel bible).

As I recall the first unit shipped had some problem with it and NewEgg was johnny-on-the-spot with a return # and paid the shipping to have old one returned and a new one sent out ASAP.

Barb & I bought ourselves these 20 inch monitors for Christmas last year and LOVVEM! (around $250 a pop and worth every penny)

Just a quick word of caution on a 22 wide flat LCD monitor...I have one and it's great but beware if you have an old desktop, the video probably won't support the new 1600x1050 resolution requirement of a 22 wide monitor and you will be stuck with a stretched out desktop that looks like crap.  You probably can upgrade the video card yourself it you are handy with hardware.

It's likely that your flyback transformer is going out. Time to get a nice flat panel like others mention. They are the cat's rear end.

I just got rid of a whole truckload of dead computers, printers, fax machnes and monitors at the "E-Dump Recycling Fair". The flat panels are much longer-lasting and they are getting cheap nowadays.
