     Gents,
I lurk a lot/post a bit on the Shovel board so please allow me a question over here on the Panhead board as I figure more of you guys have had to deal with the issue I'm having.
I have a 73 FLH that was manufactured in December of 72 and has the 72 trim and 3/8 NPT fuel tank bung. I took the aftermarket single lever petcock off to clean the screen. Put it back on with some teflon tape and it weeps a bit from those threads. Is there a particular gasoline resistant sealer that you've found to work well in tthis type of application? Thanks, Bill

HI,i've always used thread sealant with teflon made by permatex. seems to work on everything i work on.i do believe loc tite has some magic stuff to.just make sure you don't have a crack around the nipple,or in your threads. some times you have to go a bit tighter turn for alignment, which that's not good, good luck, with respect.....JR

Bill,

You may want to try Loctite 567 PST Thread Sealant.  I've use it on misc things dealing with oils.

Their is a differents in tape. For gas, you are to use the yellow and for plumbing, the white.   :soda:

I have used locktite 545 on my fuel, oil, and brake fittings, not sure it's "for" all that but it works for me.

Edit to add:
# Description:
# LOCTITE 545 is a single component, high viscosity anaerobic pipe sealant material. This product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and has a secondary activator cure that may effect bond performance. 10 ml bottle.

After cleaning the threads on the valve, you may want to carefully "chase" the threads in the tank, then use a good sealant like those suggested here.

     Gents,
Thanks for the replies. The only outfit in my area that carried Loctite didn't have any of the 567 PST in stock in the 6ml tubes and couldn't get any until Monday 10/18. The window is starting to close on the riding season here in the northeast so I tried to find an equivalent in the Permatex line. Called and spoke to their tech guy and he said their high temperature thread sealer would work as it was solvent resistant. Got some in a 6ml tube, their item number 59214. Tech guy said to let it set up for atleast 3-4 hours before adding fuel to the tank. I waited overnight (15 hrs) before dumping between 1.5 and 2 gallons to the left sidetank only (pinched off the crossover). Seems to be working just fine.
Outside, it just started to let up from about 3" of rain. Maybe I will get a ride in tomorrow. Bill
