I got the little rascal out finally.  I just kept fooling around with it and tried once again to hold the bottom of the outer fairing and it just pop right out.  I did remove the spot lights and had to remove the skirt to get the brass fitting off the screw.  Wound up using an easy out and that worked to remove the torx head bolt from the brass fitting.  Dealer called this afternoon and said my insert kit had arrived so I knew I had to get that puppy out.  Kind of hard to hold flashlight and long screwdriver and then use a torx bit on a 3/8 ratchet.  I held the outer fairing out by using a bungy one end thru the top center and the other end on front wheel.  Thanks for all the suggestions and help.

Now it's Mayors turn to come up with something..
I got lucky....my inserts stayed in just fine during my windshield switch. I even bought some of those screw in inserts....just in case.   :teeth:

FleetMachanic,
Thanks for the suggestion of using a 3/8 16 tap.  That is what I did.  It made a huge difference.  I just finished up & it came out great. I also used new bolts.  They were $1.20 each from dealer.  Thanks again for everyones help.
