Looking for some feedback on the SE103+ set-up. Likes, dislikes, do the heads need additional work, what cam works well (for a bagger) etc. Looking for info on both 103ci And 113ci. Thanks in advance. Steve.

Have done a few and used the HD pistons at 113" (.010 OS) and they worked real well. Used the TW6HG Woods cam and the last one made 120/124. Headwork was just mild Street Port with new guides.
Don't let anyone tell you to weld the head chambers, they work as-is.

What does the SE103+ set-up include?  Are we talking SE heads here or just the stock ones with a street port?

Don D

103+ heads are the CVO 103 head with further mods from HD and bigger valve. Same 98cc open chamber.

Last week I got my new 103 with SE103+ heads and Woods TW555, back from the tuner.  Dyno’d 101/108.  Torque crosses 100 at 3300 RPM and stays over 100 until 5400.   This compares with my older 103 Road King that makes 103/107 with Branch heads and TW6G cams.  The older bike still has the MM injection system (SE43MM).  I am thinking the Branch heads work better.

Don, what dimension do you set the piston to heads?
Thanks
Mike

These were built by others but I always like minimum .030.

I new .030 was the target for flat tops, wanted to confirm on these angled piston/heads also.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the reply, those are some great numbers. Would you say that bike had good street manners? Also did you do the head work? If so about how much would you charge me for a similar job?  Steve.

I like the 103 heads for big motors. I just finished a set with 2.15" intakes that comes off the seat at 53cfm (at 10"). IMO, they don't do much by themselves but are a good starting point.

Funny but I would be surprised if with the 103+ heads, you've got too much head for the cam on the 103..  I'd bet if you  compared heads the Branch would flow less.. The ones I've seen flow about the same as the SE 103 heads with 1.9 / 1.6XX valves in them..   You went more flow, more cam.. got less..  Seen that before..

Seem to me that with a 2.15 valve, the intake port size would be the restriction at higher lifts.. Need to go bigger than 1.8 inches..

Agreed. Flowed a set of Tman 1.940 heads and they didn't pull that much but were incredibly quiet and smooth. But ran 118/126 sae with a 590 cam.
