2007 SG, stock 12.5" air shocks, basic touring style, not too agressive in the twisties... but,
Ive gotten tired of the harsh stock ride so Im considering an upgrade.
I know about Progessives & Works but which ones ? Im 225 lbs & ride mostly solo
Anyone use the Drag Spec shocks ?, they are less expensive
Maybe go to the 2010-2011 oem air shocks with the newer valving, average Ebay price is around $75.00 for take offs
I want to go to 13" shocks to level the bike.
No plans to change the front springs at this time

All comments & suggestions welcomed

Ricor has been getting a lot of positive reviews and the price is fair.

I'm running 13" Progressive 412 Heavy Duty shock's  on my 01 Ultra Classic. 2 up or solo they are great !
Not saying there is nothing better out there, but for a little over $200 they are hard to beat.

I put Progreesive 440 on the rear and their springs inside the front forks on my 2006 SG. Weigh 200 and went with the HD ones. Rides as nice as my stock 2001 Ultra suspension. At least I thought so. At least better than stock. No bottoming out, bumps are easier, lost the front end dive. Told everyone to get them "Makes it ride like an Ultra."

Then....Bought a 2010 Limited and it rides 2 times softer than the SG. But a total different ride, plush and soft, but not tight like the SG which handles quicker.

Love the ride with my Progressive 416 air shocks.

I originally replaced my 12" FLHX shocks with 12½" Progressive 440's and they produced an overall improvement.  Where I found them lacking was the lack of rebound control, travel, and overall ride quality.  I then purchased some 13¼" Ohlins (#2-3) from www.motorcyclemetal.com and these totally transformed the bike.  They have >4" of travel, up from 2" for the stock shocks; have a very smooth ride; and excellent control.  Part of the improvement lies with the amount of travel provided, which has eliminated bottoming entirely, even when loaded-down in touring trim.  The side-effects from this are the ability to ride longer distances without monkey butt or needing a backrest.

Not sure about rebound, its seems OK to me.. Compression damping seemed too stiff.. With the heavy springs they seem to work well but are way too stiff.. Need a 200lb girl friend.  Lighter springs they seemed OK but compression damping too stiff..  It may be that their quality control ain't too good. You're lost damping was added to mine..  I sure miss being able to get a set of Koni's. They were real easy to tune..
