'09 Ultra, added the module when new(18k miles ago), also tapped into the output wires (brown and violet) and ran to corner lights in tour pack so they would mimic turn signals.  Never had a bit of trouble until today.  key icon stayed lit and no right turn signal b1124 code (right turn signal short to ground), then no turn signal and b1123 (left ts short to ground) and b1124 codes.  Was looking for chafed wire when I found the module was very warm and had two holes melted through the case on underside.  Unplugged module reconnected harness and signals worked fine no codes.

Do you think the module just crapped out?  Or do you think maybe it overheated due to extra amps of running the tour pack lights in addition to the turn signal lights?

Thanks,
Don

I doubt the extra lights helped it any, and if I were to replace it I would not hook anything to it but the rear signals.  I changed mine back to the brake only module.  I believe it is more effective when the person behind me actually sees the two extra lights come on rather than get just slightly brighter.

In the last couple of years I have replaced 5 or 6 of the HD version along with a couple brake switches. All of the HD run/turn/brake modules had some heat damage. I use the badlands version now.

Heat or melt is current. Too much. The module could not handle the extra tour pack load. Time and heat will cause failure when load alone is not too high over rated use. Time will catch up with a slight overload, then burn something out. Think of current flow like plumbing. It is a flow of electrons, too much and it burst (burns out).

If you change to led lights in the tour pack you may not have any more problems check here for some great options.  Take a look at the progressive turn signals in the tour pack corner lamps.

I am using their tour pack lower side led lights and have them set as run-stop-turn and they add a little extra light to the rear.

I ordered a pair of red leds with 1157 bases from custom dynamics to put in the tour pack corners, only $6 each.  Hopefully the reduced draw will allow me to tap the output of the new module without over taxing it.  Guess I'll know in 18K miles/2 years.
Thanks for the suggestions.
