Hey I'm helping my brother out with his 92 flhs pretty much bone stock 82000m with modified road king mufflers and crankcase vented out of air cleaner. He bought a new take off carb that was said to be off 04 softtail I didn't see the jets out of it he said they were small so he put his in 45 and 170 his carb ran fine just broke off the fuel inlet again and messed it up installing a fitting. The bike runs ok on bottom and top but mid is weak and seems to have a cruise surge. The main seems too small to me or could the needle be different. Thanks    HEAVY

If the top and bottom jets seem good, I would try shimming the needle to correct the midrange. Try a small washer 0.30 to 0.50 thousands thick.

Check for intake leaks!
175 would be a better jet for a 80" EVO

Thanks for the replies been busy but plan on putting carb back on tomorrow to check for intake leaks. It has a n86e needle in it if I'm reading right that's a lean needle isn't.  Is there any difference betwin the  92 and the 04 carb. Numbers on the supposed to be 04 carb are y74a gc25     27038-92  he still hasn't brought me the original carb would like to see whats in it.  thanks    HEAVY
