iPHone APP for TS-2 or TTS

I've been wishing for a display that could be mounted on the handlebars to monitor live data from my WEGO, TS2, or TTS.  The programs would be so much more useful if one could actually see the data being accumulated.  For TTS, you could actually see the cells being filled.  32G of memory could probably hold a few days worth of DataMaster.  But the biggest advantage would be the ability to see in real time, the collection of the data and filling of the cells.  Without feedback, it's difficult to see what is needed (throttle, brake, etc) to get anything more than the normal riding cells.  A friend of mine made a laptop mount on his handlebars.  Said it was really fun watching the cells fill, got every cell available filled!

So with time off yesterday and today, I've been Googling.

I think there's an APP for this!

Imagine being able to glance down at DataMaster and seeing the reds turn to greens on your handlebar-mounted iPhone while on a tuning run.  Need cells at a higher MAPs, drag the front brake a little and watch them fill.   Cool?   I'm thinking, WAY COOL!  The instant feedback could help a person get full data in 30 - 45 minutes.

To top it off  . . . IT'S WIRELESS!

Is anyone already doing this?  If so, what app are you using?

If not  . . . and it works . . . . . you can thank me later.

Ken, gets me to thinking, maybe the shops need to rent time on their dynos for DIY tuners.  But, I suspect they would be too concerned about liability and insurance.  Too bad, there is a market there, IMO.

Actually would be a great Idea,
you can get a mount from RAM for an Iphone
under $10, would be great to see the cells
you fill

It all depends on how many people would be willing to purchase something like this. Apple has a special deal and that we must buy a chip from them and it must be installed in our electronics to allow it to work so that kind of back burner-ed it for us. We've looked at the Windows based phone and the Droid phones but it's a little too early. These things have changed so much over the past year software written to work on a year old phone does not work on today's phone without a rewrite. Believe me we have looked into and believe it could be a good thing.

Netbooks are so cheap and decent plus a 10" screen.

Dang, I though I'd attached the hyperlink.  Here it is.

Something with Blue Tooth? I know there are Blue Tooth devices to connect to ODBII connectors on cars.

Ken:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't one of the devices have to generate a Wi-Fi hotspot for the Avatron app to work?

Sounds very interesting...........thanks for the post!

This worked fine for me.  A 7" monitor off of FleaBay.  Without this monitor....  I simply couldn't get enough green cells to suit myself.  Getting the cells, allowed V-Tune to work as designed.   I bought this, because I had played back various v-tune runs and was amazed on how crappy a job I was doing gathering data.  Couldn't bitch at Steve (haha) if it was ME not using the product correctly.

The monitor is USB powered and I run a 12v power supply from the bike to keep the laptop all charged while riding.  Battery life was shortened when running the extra monitor.

Hopefully, I will see a few of you guys at Cinci Expo.

Oh No!

Search Air Display on Iphone it is a $9.99 app.

Also from the web page on the App

"NETWORK: In order for Air Display to work your computer and iOS device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network."

You might have to carry a wireless network router with you LOL

Not sure if it will wi-fi with just the PC or if it has to hit a router it doesn't
specify

If they can both communicate with a wireless network, then can they not communicate with each other without a router?

Ken

Not always, depends on how the device was built.

Ken I don't know the specs
say it needs to communicate via
the wi-fi network.

Now Blu Teef enabled
the app would connect to
another blu teef unit....

But it states Wi-Fi

You'd have to clarify
but the docs suggest
you'd need a net...

iPHONE 4: Please note that this version does not shrink the computer pixels down to native-sized Retina pixels. This may change in a future update.

They have no contact number.  Just email.  Blue tooth is what I think we need to be able to utilize this app.

Hello,

Bluetooth transfer rates are much too slow for something like Air Display. The amount of data that's being transferred wirelessly to allow a second screen to be useable would choke a Bluetooth transfer to the point where moving windows around on the iPad display would be a nightmare. So, it's not likely we'll add be adding a Bluetooth connection option.

You should be able to setup an adhoc wifi network on your laptop that the iphone/ipod can see and connect to.  in that config the laptop also does the routing

BigD

you could set up an ad-hoc network on the laptop and that will work fine.  Screen updates via wi-fi are another story.

A well respected individual in the H-D community is working on an app for the Android right now.

Looks like someone is on the right track.  Would be nice to monitor the functions of the ECM when playing around.

$250 for that app with interface. Big bucks jmo for a phone interface

So is the HD interface that hard?

Ken R

Guys, I'm not saying that I'd buy one.  I think this one is kinda lame, actually.

But someone is on the right track.  I don't think there's any reason why an iPhone or other smart phone can't be interfaced to our ECMs to display and maybe even record data.    I'm glad someone is thinking about it.

Looks like this product takes the place of an entire instrument panel.  Turn signals indicator?

Ken

I doubt the HD interface itself is that hard.  I would think keeping up with all the info coming through that interface, displaying it in a graphical form and storing it in a format that can be used later is the hard part.  The processor on a phone doesn't have anywhere near the capabilities or speed of the processors in a PC.  At least at this point in time.
