QuoteYou mean to say that their are people on this forum who will pay top dollars in getting a big build motor on their bagger to just hot rod on the street?

Sorry if that logic eludes you so let's put it this way, it's their money and if even they want to build a pyramid out of gold cowpies in their living room who are you to judge?

Mark, you are obviously baiting and about to take a time out.

I am not downing anyones build.I just question why would one own a one dimensional bagger that can only just hot rod from one light to the next and whats makes that so impressive when it is a touring bike.

Because they can! If more explanation is required you will never understand ANYHOW!

ps: Please notice the spelling correction in your post...spell check does work!

prodrag1320

not any crying here, but just wondering why a guy who builds a 117",10.7-1 motor would be putting others down for building "hot rod only" motors??? that kind of compresion dosnt really lend itself to running cross country(touring)still scratching

That is exactly what I'm telling you, and exactly what everyone else is telling you as well. Why is that hard for you to understand?
Get the principles down first, they'll never change.

I could only imagine if the administrator made everyone who comes on here and brags about how good their build is that they be required to show a video of it as proof. Can you imagine the comments and opinions being made then about knocking noises, sounds of pinging and things from the video now i wonder would that make some mad about that as well?

Hey administrator how about asking these guys to show a video if they post any numbers of their big builds that they brag about. :bike:

Yes. I know a few personally that do just that simply because they can. Me, myself, I am into "sleepers". Nothing wrong with any of it as long as no gets hurt and it bring a smile to your face.

Building a race motor or a tourer is a lot like a marriage. It's about compromises. The older bikes taught you this for sure. You set your tolerences loose or tight, maybe in between, depending on what you wanted to do and how much you wanted to spend. Speed cost money, lots of money. There really is no all purpose bike, esle someone would have built by now and cornered the market.

Yes.  I live in the states.  Bigger is always better and what do the Jone's have in their bike?  Hummers that never seen dirt.  Guy down the street has a lowered desiel duelly without hitch, gooseneck or other.

I know this isn't just baggers w/ big inch engines.  Just trying to point out mentality of people.  I don't have any video, but if you come to STL ever.  I recommend going to Hall St.  Big inch baggers racing for high dollar.  These guys have $40,000-$50,000 baggers with extreme everything.  Stereo, paint, 23in spinner front rims, custom made bars, goes on and on.  These guys come from all over.  A big club from Alanta has a good presence.  They ride up here.  Shut up and put up.  Ride home.  I'm sure this happens other places.  There was a good video posted on this site of some of this.  It's kind of an eye opener if you think only white guys can make a bagger fly.

Not to flame the fire at all, but the 131"er that partycrasher owns, could be toured.
The engine's operating noise is less than it was, prior to tearing it down.
It's only 1/2 point more compression than OE, the bores are now corrected, the cam isn't wild, and the heads flow more.
