Would only be worth while if you could drill out the inter tensioner in place on the cam plate, saving pulling the cams out of the plate.

That Cyco Gaskets nylon shoe and jig will be for the old spring tensioners 99 - 06, yes ?

Hey FSG... the answer is YES.  Stroker, Rredneckin 2 and myself quizzed the Cyco guy pretty hard on this.

Fatboy...  it can save a guy $130ish.  To me?... especially on a stock bike... a nice savings... IMHO... a nice enough savings to recommend doing that instead of a possible upgrade.  It is something a DIY could do at home.  A once every winter maintenance kind of thing and not sweat it.
Oh No!

Thanks and  :agree:  I'll get some when they become available, although I run gears I work on a few still on chains due to budget restrictions and have enough old tensioners around to fix a few and have them on standby.

Are these replacement shoes shown anywhere in the net? Are there any pics available?
I cann't imagine that you can change the shoes so easy. Disassembly of the whole thing is quite easy. With a screwdriver as a lever you can remove the arms of the tensioner from the shoe axis. But the axis is made of hardened steel and can not be riveted.

WVULTRA....

My bike is a '06 Dyna. I would guess it would be the same as '07's ??

The H-D dealer looked up the part number and then went and got a bag of them to look at. Can you just look and tell the difference? They were a flat pan head type bolt with six (6) flat sides?

Dan:

According to the '06 Technical Forum info, the Dyna did have the new style cam plate, pump, tensioners, etc.  Of course, factory could have used an allen/pan head bolt for the tensioner in the '06s vs the torx; but we wouldn't know for sure what the correct bolt was without consulting an '06 factory parts catalog.

Maybe someone here on the forum with a parts manual can confirm.

Have the tensioners ever been out of your dyna prior to now?  Seems strange the bolts would have been torqued that tight to cause a failure when removing the bolts.  But using the wrong torx bit (25 vs 27) could have damaged the head as previously mentioned.

After doing some checking, there's a good reason you had a hex socket bolt on your primary tensioner. The 2006 Dyna PM shows the p/n for that bolt to be a 927A in lieu of the 942 on subsequent years. Description for the 927A displays "HEX" whereas the 942 says "TORX".
Considering a power upgrade?
First and foremost, focus on your tuning plan.

Damn Slik Rik... that looks horrible!  Any ideas of whats up?

As an FYI, we saw a neat little piece at the show.   Cyco Gaskets now has a deal where the sell ONLY the nylon shoe.  If you buy 2 shoes, you get a jig for $5 to drill out the old rivet and install a new rivet.   One could have 'new' cam shoes for $7 each.  What a great little invention, huh?  Instead of $65 or so.... $7!!!!!  :bike: :rtfb:

Good for Cyco.I hope they sell boatloads of them and they perform well.

It seems that HD wants to stick it to people that need to replace them and make a killing on the replacement shoe assemblies or get them on the conversion kit. :gob:

For some people it's just about all the $$$ they can spare to own and maintain a HD.
It must be true,I read it on the internet.
