I'm reading about all the discounts, 0% interest, rebates, employee prices, etc.   Anybody out there got any super good deals on a new car or truck?   Somehow I just don't believe all these advertisements I see on the tube/flatscreen.

Yeh, my wife and I started looking at a Ford Edge just for that reason.  What we've found is Ford is offering "employee pricing" plus a cash discount plus a $500 discount if you finance it too.  It seems a little better than it normally would be but I haven't bought a car for so long that I don't know how good it really is.  A vehicle that is about $34K sticker, they are taking about $6K off of, which I guess is fairly good although I thought it might be better.
Also it appears you can buy a 2008 for no more money than a used vehicle with several miles on them.
Experience is something you get right after you needed it.

I have been keeping an eye on new vehicle prices here in Canada and they are all but giving them away. I never hit this cycle at the right time. I always buy a new vehicle and run the legs off of it....(10 years, 250,000 + miles) which is pretty good up here as I live near the coast and we use salt on the roads in the winter. I figure I am still about 3 - 4 years away from buying a new one and don't want a new vehicle payment right now but I am tempted with thses prices. I have to sit down and do the math just to see if I would at least break even in the long run.

I figure if things don't go for an absolute "Potty mouth" we likely have another year of reduced prices so at least have some time to ponder it.

I've had my eye on a Bullitt edition Mustang... but am waiting for 0% for 60 months, or something like that to be offered...

Here locally, dealerships are knocking $10,000-$12,000 off MSRP on their new trucks, and even better on leftover 08's.  I've got my eye on a new '09 Dodge Ram Sport 4x4 crew cab that stickers for $43,000 and it's being advertised at $32,000 ...bet I can do even better if I shop around.

The deals are out there but you have to work at it. We bought a new 08 Pontiac last month and I walked out of the dealership twice. They called me back both times and we finally agreed on MY price. Good Luck.
