Did you take a look see in the Homemade Tools forum?
In there 'Homemade Lift/Bench has a neat looking ride up on bench.
The middle section can be taken out for more access.
With some additional tought the 3 sections could even be nested for storing.
Just a thought.

I know we're talking jacks but I can't help myself, got this lift last week.  Added a couple 2X10s to the sides until I can swing the extensions and I added safety step tape to the ramp.
Excuse the winter dust on the bike. I was grinning so hard I didn't even see it. I've been working off a Sams Club jack for about 13 years, not any more if I can help it.  :teeth:

76Shuvlinoff, That looks to me like mine. "Directlift" that I purchased through Greg Smith Equipment. I have two of them in my garage and have nothing but good to say about them, and we use them alot. Pneumatic is soo much nicer than the Hydraulic ones I had prior! I belive that total price including shipping to the truckdock at my factory was $630.00each

That's the Direct lift Procycle DT (Drop Tail). In that pic the ramp is laying on the table behind the lift.

You got a better deal than I did. It was $625 but by the time I got it shipped I was at $797. When I got it home I decided I wanted their Blackjack scissors jack so add another $123 (including shipping) for that. The complete extension kit is $225 but for now I spent $50 on a couple treated 2x10s, 3 hunks of 3/4 black pipe, some hardware and a roll of step safety tape for the ramp.

I rubbed winter off the old girl and left her sitting on the lift, tonight my wife came in from the barn and told me that's not a bike table it's a trophy case. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Mark,

Give it some consideration before you drop another $200+ on extensions.  My neighbor has the extensions and they make it a real pain to work on the bike.  Keeps you standing too far off to the side.  I have to reach so far that is makes my back hurt which defeats the purpose of the table lift.  They are handy to have if you want to work on a quad or lawn tractor, etc.

I have the Directlift, drop tail, and extensions. I leave the extensions on most of the time. A couple clips, and the extensions pull right off. The extensions are nice to ride the bike up and have somewhere for your feet. Doing service work on the bike I usually leave them on and sit in an old office chair. When I tore down my '05 and did the big bore and cams the extensions were removed.
If I were to buy the lift again I would buy extensions.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

I'm kinda hijackin the thread here , sorry that was not the original intent. I am just goofy glad to finally have a lift.

Craig, PoorUB,

The 2x10 planks I used for side extensions will suffice unless I locate some FREE aluminum channel, that might be a little lighter to manhandle around. I did set it up so I can pull a 3 lynch pins and drop them off either side. They make a great place to set stuff while working on the bike not to mention a place to put my feet when riding the bike up on it. I can see why you would not want them there if muscling heavier components out of the frame.

This lift will not handle my tractor but for the bikes, 4 wheeler, maybe the wife's smaller horse drawn carts, I'm already in love.
... and on that note I have an all balls starter for the shovel wanting into the game this weekend.

Found another use for my jack yesterday that a table wouldn't do.  Makes a pretty fair automotive transmission jack too.  Much more stable than the floor jack I usually use.
This ain't Dodge City, and you ain't Bill Hickock.

Thanks for all the input guys after giving it some thought I wanted a jack with a big foot print so it is real stable. After reading your post and checking out some of the makes that were suggested I received my bike jack that I ordered last Thursday. It came by UPS today. I know you are asking, I ordered a jack from J&S jacks I was very pleased with the response I got when I talked to them on the phone and I am very pleased with the lift.
