Hello everyone.  I am needing to replace the battery on my bike.  Any advice on brands or type to use?  I have a stage 1.5 2008 FXSTC (exhaust, ac kit, mild cams, 96ci).  I use a battery tender when not riding.  I really appreciate your views, opinions & replies, thanks.

Deka makes Harley batteries. The same battery just differant case color. Save some $$ cal your Deka dealer!

This guy has the best deals I've found on Deka batteries. I've bought a few from him for different bikes and never a problem. 280551522974 (ebay)

If you go with a DeKa battery, ask for a factory second. There will be cosmetic damage but the innards will be fine. Ask the dealer to order you one. Of course that's not an option if you need it right now. I go to the factory store for my batteries and pay only 1/2 price for a second. I paid $48.00 for the battery in my Ultra about 4 years ago. This time of the year they should have a pretty good selection of motorcycle battery seconds because they ramp up production for the coming season.

Good advise. I would stick with an HD unless I could find the DEKA. Never tried to find one. My 2006 battery still works fine.

Something to look for in the new battery,I bought a non HD and it did not have flush mounts. With my heavier cables it was a little tough.Just a thought    Coff 06

a couple o'tips, make sure the batt has a full charge before installing it (12.6-12.7 vdc static) and pull the ecm fuse before you disconnect the old one and reinstall it after you connect the new batt.

I just replaced mine this year with a H-D OEM and they made a slight change to the battery posts. They have the option of side mount or top mount for the cables. I still used the side mount oem position and attached my battery tender harness to the top mount holes on the battery post, pretty convienient. Check this link out:

I am not a HD parts only person but I have had good luck with the HD batteries....I usually get 5 + years out of a battery which I consider acceptable.

I just bought a Deka three weeks ago. It did NOT have flush fit terminals and I needed to use the enclosed spacers. The battery also needed a charge. It started and ran fine the first day but a week later it wouldn't start. After I put it on the tender for a couple of days it's been fine. I do like the extra mounts on the top as that is where I attach my tender.

HD loves to rips folks off with their prices, and they sure as hell haven't changed their ways with their way over-priced batteries !      Here ya go,........

The AGM battery is a nice price, but DAMN, that Odyssey battery is EXPENSIVE.

BatteryMart shows the same battery for my Fatty (01) and Dyna (02). I always assumed they were different batteries. No?

OEM HD AGM battery kept on a Tender! IMHO the only way to keep starter clutches from havocing and eating starter ring gears   :teeth:
