Putting my tc together this week (95inch kit,tw37b cams and headwork and new  bearings). Just wondering what kind of assembly lube everybody is using on cams and bearings and what to use for breakin on the cylinders rings and pistons.  :bike:

i use PJ1 because i like the spray can... whatever you use, don't over-do it... some assembly lubes are pretty thick and twincams have some pretty small oil passages... as far as what to "use for breakin on the cylinders rings and pistons"... i use cylinders, rings and pistons

Whatever I have. S&S even made some years ago when everyone was going go gears. Pretty expensive per ounce compared to others but you only needed a small bottle so it appeared reasonable.

I've always used STP oil treatment.. it's thick enough to brush on.

On my top-end rebuild I used Torco Assembly Lube.  Picked it up at local machine shop.

I use white lithium greese for the cams and bearings, Belray assembly for everything else, on new cylinders i coat the cylinders with motor oil, not a lot just enough to provide intitial start up but i always turn the motor over with the starter without the plugs in to get oil moving in the motor then fire it up...

Screamin Eagle has an assy lube that works but my only bitch is the bottle it comes in.
Speed costs money. How fast do you want to spend?

These guys: http://zddplus.com/ also make an assembly paste (Zpaste) that comes in a squeeze tube.  Works great!!  They don't mention much about it on the webpage, but you can contact them about it.  I'll actually be at their facility tomorrow.

I like Torco.  I think that is who makes the S&S stuff.  Now I use Redline.  It comes in a 4oz tub, and easy to stick an acid brush into.

I think Max once said he uses K Y Jelly. I think he was joking though. :nix:

Either Axtell or Delkron sent a bottle of Childs & Albert Assembly Lube with some parts that I purchased.  My dealer did the assembly and said it was outstanding.  I tried to find another bottle some time later but couldn't.

I use Lucas as well.

I agree with this just make sure to ground your plugs so your ECM doesn't send en error code

I use regular Torco assembly lube. They also have extra thick stuff for cam lobes ( like a jelly grease)but I rarely use it.

Torco, we buy it by the quart, for the shop but have the  two smaller bottles for the retail guys and they also offer it in a spray as well. Torco makes lube for many many other companys that have it labled for them. Childs and Alberts long gone..

As far as Max goes I am suprised he is not using organic peanut butter :hyst:

Maybe that is the new fix for galling valves  :pop:

If I am doing engine works that will not sit, (build and then fire up) I use engine oil for lube. If it will sit for any length of time I will use assembly lube on the parts.

Smell it,, It ain't peanut butter..

Actually I usually use what Steve uses.. Torco.. I'll use a light molybdenum disulphide grease also. I use the grease sparingly tho.  Got some Staylube assy but it's thicker than the old can of moly. so it get applied even thinner..

I forget what I use the KY for..  :embarrassed:
