1980 80 flt Rear Sprocket assembly

Does anyone have any idea where to find this ? I believe the part number is 41522-79a?Or am I looking at cutting and welding a new sprocket to that hub assembly?

Oldskool, would you please explain just a lil deeper what you're asking? do you have a disc or drum on that bike? we've had a number of shovels around through the years and to the best of my knowledge 1980 fl's came with a bolt on sprocket on the left and a disc brake on the right. no welding is required to mount a sprocket.

Well not sure how to explain it!This is a bolt on yes,But this assembly is not just a sprocket!! The sprocket is actually welded to a small hub I guess I would call it and the hub is bolted to the rim!There are also 2 bearings and seals in the hub!

Welded huh? Strange. Gonna be a bit pricey but if possible get the parts manual for your model and start collecting the orginal style parts. Welded aint right to the best of my knowledge.

I think I researched this before and I don't recall where I got to with it.

I'd get a machine shop to take the old sprocket off and weld on a new one.  Perhaps http://www.3guyz.com have already addressed this issue, it'd be worth an email to them.

Now iirc the 1980 tooth count was different than from 1981-up.  I don't believe it make a big difference, maybe chain lenght.  I assume you are still running the stock enclosed oil bath system? ... the best design HD ever came up with for a rear drive.

The drive chain is the same length for both sprockets.
If you use the enclosed system and have the early housing and a late sprocket,use less lube to account for the larger sprocket.

It would be easy for a decent machine shop to cut the old sprocket off on a lathe,bore a donor sprocket,and weld it onto the hub.

I had a hub made that I could bolt a sprocket to. Next I'm going to convert to a rear belt.

put n flh wheel on one i had n run stock dished sprocket...knowd few cats used ta have machine shop cut n weld a dish one

Ok well thanks guy's , I think hmm ! bRRAP it is a original sprocket assembly! I did see 1 on ebay and someone earlier did mention that ! I'll check that out again! There is one more guy I keep forgetting about who has a ton of older parts ,I'll check with him tomorrow!keep you posted!
