bought a 1995 dyna{fxds-conv), number on motorcase matches vin.  has screamin eagle heads. really know nothing else about the motor. how can i find out what size my motor is,cam, what other work has been done to it, etc.?  in some of the paperwork, there is a hand written note referencing 95cubic inch, BUT I realize that might not mean anything. bike runs GREAT,  to me it does not "feel" like what i think a 95ci should feel like. ideas, advice, suggestions?

thanks

I don't think an 80 can get much bigger than 88-89 inches. Cylinders are too close.

If the PO can't tell you then the only way to find out for sure is to open her up. You can pull the cam cover and see what cam is in there. Maybe the part # on the heads will tell you if they are designed for 3 5/8" bore or stock bore. You can try to get an approximate stroke measurement thru the spark plug hole. While not exactly accurate, it may show you if your stroke is longer than stock. Other than that I don't know of any other way.

Check the stroke first thing. If it's stock then you're not going to have 95 inches. However, with a 4.625 stroke and 3.625 bore you can get 96 inches (actualy about 95.5) with OEM cases.

I didn't know you could run a bore that big. The evo is already somewhat stroked at 4.25 inches.

Chances are, it's an 80 inch Evo with a set of Screamin' Eagle heads and a SE cam installed at the dealership.

If it's set up right, it will run well. As fast as a modified twin cam? No, but if it runs well and it's not giving you any trouble, I would enjoy it as is.

A word of warning about spark plugs: it may not take the same plugs as a standard Evo. If memory serves me correct, there is a special plug for the SE Evo heads. Look at the number on the plugs in there now, and match to that number.

Enjoy it while it's still summertime. Winter isn't that far away.

SE heads take sporster plugs in stead of the standard plugs for the shorter throw.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replys, i agree with the "if it aint broke dont fix it" view on things, would just like to "know" what it is so can have conversations about it, instead of going "i dunno" when someone askes whats in it. LOL.  you are right about the spark plugs, they are not evo plugs, so i just took one of my plugs in and matched the numbers.  where can i find part numbers on the heads?

thanks again for all the help.
