I want to throw a tach from a 99 Sportster on my 95 Evo.  I gotta figure it's going to show double the rpm's.

Maybe I'll just buy one of them aftermarket mini gauges and be done with it.

he's right, I bought one when I put my Compufire single fire ignition on my FXR4.  It corrected the pulses from the coil to the tach so that the tach reads out the correct RPMs .....

seems the cost was like $25 or something like that, been a few years, crs over here in SC

A tach adapter is not required with most aftermarket single-fire ignitions as they will probably have a lead specifically for the tach.

The single-fire adapter is only needed if the the tach has to be connected directly to the coil.

Go buy a single fire ignition,,,My Harley dual fire tach is hooked to my Dyna 2000 single fire with NO issues,,,same with a friends 89 FXRS..Single fire is smoother,,easier starts,,better timing control...
