Got a question for you guys about removing fuel from gas tank. I like to remove my tank in the winter so I can clean the areas you can't get to during riding season, looked at the quick disconnects but all the ones I found are to long to fit between the barb fittings on the tank of my 06 Dyna. Could you buy the fuel line that goes from the tank quick disconnect to the T-body and simply cut the end off that goes to the T-body install that to the tank disconnect and drain fuel that way or is vaccuum needed for fuel to flow? Thanks for any info

It's as simple as leaning the bike to the right if that's where the filler is and siphon hose it from there. There will be next to no fule left in the crossover line doing it this way and just undo the clamps and pull the line off. Have a bud help with the lean while you siphon the fuel out.

Ron, bike is a 2006 FXDCI it's the oddball of the dynas with the fuel filler in the middle of the tank. Tried the siphon method last winter so I could remove tank and replace fuel filter with not so good results as my furnace is in my garage, thought I had all the fuel out and removed crossover line only to see about a quarter gallon run onto the floor and me running to the breaker panel to turn off power to furnace so my house didn't go BOOM.

I've drained the tank on my Ultra by hooking up a 5/16 fuel hose long enough to reach the gas can. I'll pinch off the crossover, and disconnect from one side. I have the long hose ready to slip onto the fitting. Drain one side, then get a female / female barb fitting, hook the long hose up to the short one, then drain the other side.

FWIW, I always try to drain my fuel systems outside. When I first started riding HD's, I went to the local indy and he had a very crispy Springer parked there. Turns out it came from another shop, they drained the fuel tank and the vapors collected under a workbench. When something sparked it, the shop went up in flames and this Springer was history.

Gas isn't the biggest problem. The vapors, on the other hand, will ruin your day extremely quickly.
Shiny side up, rubber side down.

Unhook the fuel line at the tb and add an extension to a gas can. Unplug the fuel pump and run direct wires to the fuel pump from a 12v source and to ground . Check SM or test to get the correct wires on.  This should pump it out below the crossover line, I'm thinking. :nix:
