Folks,

I'm usually hanging at the shovel board but tonight my evo riding buddy has a problem, I need to ask a question. Background: I have lots of dinkin with my shovel but  I have never worked on an evo set-up. This is a 95 RK.

He recently went from a Mikuni to a 40mm cv. He can not seem to keep the soft seal in place and even took it to an indy who did it twice to get it right but it didn't last more than a month.

I run a H-D 40mm cv on my shovel, no issues. Can we get an S&S intake for EVOs and use the hard press-on cv adapter from ebay like I did on my shovel?  Is there more to it?

Thanks!
   Mark

I am not sure what's in there, I have not looked at his bike yet.

How is the carb held on now. Pictrue would be helpful.  EVO uses the tapped holes in the head to hold on the air filter box which holds the carb up and pressed against the rubber seal.  Look for a Mik support bracket.

Something like this:

Here is one that isn't listed as obsolete:

When he said he had a repeat intake leak problem I told him the carb needs really good support especially with that soft seal. He said it was bolted to the heads but those would break once in a while. Something isn't kosher here so obviously I need to do more digging if I'm going to have you guys help me help him.  He is having a laundry list of tuning issues but we need to resolve any intake leak first.

Thanks, I'll do some prodding.

You can use the Race back from T-Man or Zippers. As much as I don't like TR, his race back is better than the one from Zippers. Use an S&S intake. Be sure to get the correct one, correct length, proper port size, etc. The Mik air cleaner will easily adapt to the slight height change and different right side offset.

May need spacers between the heads and adapter.

T-Man adapter is nice. You will also need a manifold.

Fit the carburetor and bracket and check for a gap between the head and bracket.
