On my mostly original 50 fl, I been looking for a tall gas cap. One of mine is the short but the other one is the tall. I thought my tall was correct till now. Palmer states that 1941 - 1954 is a tall one (he gives measurements, witch mine meet) with the eaton hallmark  in center of bayonet, an E centered into a outline of a scale weight and vented. Mine is the tall one but it has the word EATON circled and located in the center of bayonet and is vented.  I don't see this combo anywhere in his descriptions of caps. Wondering if maybe non-harley or what. What got me looking again is one on ebay. owner claims it is for 41-54 but its not marked like Palmers discription either. It has EATON circled but on the end of the bayonet.

That is true that mine is the tall one, but it is not suppose to say EATON inside a circle in the middle of the bayonet.  I can not find the history of my cap. There is another one eBay now, with the proper markings (by what Palmer says).
