we like the EZ PULL that goes in the trans cover itself

The ones that go in the transmission cover replace the ball and ramp with one that moves the clutch push rod less than before.  The principal is like trying to pry something with a lever and moving the lever pivot point closer to the object.  Just don't see how something added onto the lever at the handlebar could really work unless it somehow increases the lever travel.

Put the Reduced Effort ball and ramp in my Fat Boy..........didn't work real well but then again I think I offset any reduction by putting the Screaming Eagle clutch spring on at the same time.  Put a reduced effort extension "thing" on our Sportster.........works GREAT.
I've never used the clutch lever one but believe it works on a ratcheting principle and increased mechanical leverage.............no increase in travel I don't think, just an increase in leverage..........

the amp power clutch ( clutch lever mounted unit) works very well. have used one on my fxrs for as long as the unit has been in existance. works like the mouse trap mechanism on old foot clutchs. there is a picture of it in j/p cat that will give you an idea how it works

Your memory is worse than mine, Bill.  The handlebar lever mousetrap is more like the  amp unit..  The foot unit had a cam over spring that would hold the clutch in with foot removed.. Of course the hb lever trap could cam over like the foot one when not adjusted right..

the amp setup works ok for me

Don't forget, lubrication of the cable is sometimes just enough to make the clutch work easier.  Many overlook the lube requirement and complain about the effort to pull in the clutch.  jmho.

i converted mine to hydraulic , using brembo late model master, and HD hydraulic line , and clutch outer housing and push rod kit , absolutley a god send , only thing is its none adjustable as to handle bar lever action, comes in 1/3 off the  grips, cheers and good luck, barny
riding since 62, BSA bantum the first bike

Pingle electric shifter-You would only need to pull in 1st when you leave or coming to a stop.
Use an EZ pull for using that one gear and you wont be putting much stress at all on your left hand.

I also converted to Hyd. unit, cost was 350 for the conversion.  they also make one that does not require replacing the trans cover, remove the ball and ramp and place a hyd. cylinder in it place to actuate the clutch, does require a handlebar master cyl. and lines that come with the kit.    never regreted going hyd.  I even forget that I have a heavy diaphram and VPC92 in there.      not that expensive, got it thru Calif Phil on HTT.

The adjustment issue depends on which transmission cover you use. I used a Pro One cover with a Baker throw out bearing and it is completely adjustable. I agree that it's easier to pull the clutch, being hydraulic and it seems easier to find neutral

But "feel" degrades when going hydraulic, right?

You and me both. I got the same crap.....

I installed the reduced effort moco clutch. It worked for me. You can also install a lined clutch cable and keep everything lubed/greased. Pay attention to the clutch lever pin. It needs periodic cleaning and grease.
