Had a friend get pulled over in Sturgis, for handle bars being higher than his shoulder's. Never new TX had a Law or State Inspection Regulation concerning Handle Bars.

2. Inspect for and reject if:
  j. On motorcycles and motor-driven cycles, handlebar grips extend to a height in excess of 15 inches above the saddle level.

Some states require the grips to be lower than the riders shoulders when sitting on the bike. I am not sure it gets enforced, but a popo can use it for a reason to pull you over to mess with you.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

Sorta OT:
I think the shovel looks good with em but I've been thinking about taking off my 14" minis (which are just below my shoulders). Over the last few years I notice my throttle hand fingers will tingle at around 60 miles, especially if wearing gloves.

if your equipment is legal in the state you live in you are legal in all 50 states,, otherwise interstate travel would be impossible,, a good example is window tint,, legal down south,, not in MN, but if have TX plates on the car the local LEO's can't ticket you for it,, same applies to apes..

I noticed some getting stopped for this at Street Vibrations this year.   Coff 06

You'd think these cops would find something more important to do then mess with some bikers for the height of their handle bars..
I've been running apes for years, I think apes are the most comfortable bars out. I have a bad back and when I run a set of bars that are level with my shoulders it takes the pressure off my lower back. Some guys I see run bars that are so low, they almost touch their knees, and they think thats safe?........... They should give tickets out for bars being too low!

When I was a kid that was the law where I was growing up. Often it is just an excuse to pull somebody over. Back around 1970 I got pulled over just before crossing the Golden Gate back into Frisco. Cop couldn't really find anything and finally gave me a ticket for mirror out of adjustment. It was just a fixit ticket that had to get signed off. Just goes to show you though.

I beg to differ on that comment. Here in NJ no noise statue. Go to NY or New Hope PA and see what happens. I was in Sturgis 1 year ask the guys from NC,SC, and VA about handlebar heights in Wyoming. Those cops were having a good day collecting revenue.

cops can write you tickets for whatever they want, that doesnt mean that it will be enforced by the courts. it might be a pain in the ass but if you fight it and you are in the right more times than not you will come out on top. tomcat earlier was exactly right about interstate travel.

You may be right about interstate travel, but out of state say NY to FL or visa versa for a court appearance? How about daytime headlights NJ has no statute NY, PA, FL do. Yes mr NY cop NJ doesn't have a law for daytime headlight. What's he going to tell you.......
Or I'm from FL and we don't have a  helmet law so I don't have to wear a helmet and we don't need proof of insurance either.

No.    Bluedots are perfectly legal here in WY and lead to great sorrow every time I left the state.   I don't run them anymore...

If your handle bars can't be higher then your shoulders, and when you sit on the bike they are, get a taller friend to take your bike for inspection. Pull the bars back a little if they are too high over the seat, then raise them up after you leave the inspection center.,,
