Mini-Tach light out

Has anybody ever replaced a bulb(pt# 52425-98) in the mini-tach(pt#68953-04)? Mine would come on then go off for a while until it recent stopped coming on at all. I'm assuming the bulb is burned out.

Mine did the same thing a several years ago.  It is a weird bulb socket setup that I could only find at a HD dealership many miles away and was way expensive.  So I took the bulb out and matched it up with a lcouple little pen light bulbs for a dollar (I think I found it at a Radio Shack) and soldered the bulb to the tach connections, found a little rubber grommet for the bulb to set in and wal-la, been working fine for ever since.  And I have a spare bulb ready to go if needed.

OH, if you can find the bulb and it at a HD dealership, then it is easy to replace, just take the chrome housing cover off (1 screw) and twist the old bulb out and put the new one in.  I don't recall now, but I may recall that that bulb may be not available anymore.  (Can't remember, old age memory!)
