With the exhaust pipe off the bike this weekend I though it'd be a good time to check on how the modified Muller Ramp and Throw-Out Bearing are travelling, roughly 17,000 Kl since installation.

Nothing unusual was seen when the cover was removed, other than the colour of the Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil, the trannie shifts easy-as with no noticeable difference to Heavy Shockproof.

The Muller and balls look like new (no pix) as they should.

I can see where the rollers have been running on the thrust washers but all's OK.  There are a few marks on the brass bush I made but it'll be good for another 20K to 30K before inspection again.

I have never been in my gearbox so I have no clue. I take it you made the bush to stabilize the washers and the thrust race bearing. Was the aftermaket muller ramp under size on the shaft or did you fit a oversize heavy duty bearing and washer and spacer.

I fitted an oversize heavy duty bearing and thrust washers, the ID increases as you go up in OD, so yes a brass bush (spacer) was required, easy made on a home lathe.

The spring I fitted to ensure the ramp returned to it's home position is from a Shovel Trannie, Pawl Carrier Spring P/N 33201-79.  It was also used in the early days of the Ball Ramp Assy by HD to ensure the throw-out bearing wasn't constantly loaded and didn't wear out prematurely.  I've a Tech Bulletin/Advisory/Tip somewhere advising of this.
