I've been in the auto repair business for over 25 years and believe me, people who read the owner's manual are a rarity.
This ain't Dodge City, and you ain't Bill Hickock.

:agree:

The owners manual is usually filed away in the dining room cabinet for safe-keeping never to be seen again.

Whats an owners manual?  lol

Good that the jury came up with the right decision.  Now the guys (wifes) medical bills will be paid by us taxpayers, rather than just us HD riders, most likely.  He doesnt seem like a responsible person and will find a way to get someone else to pay this--either taxpayers or the medical insurance company/hospital/care providers.

Anyhow, its also good to see the lawyer lose one--he was a dumbass for not looking at this case a little deeper.

JMO.

No matter whether this guy would have won or not, we as taxpayers are still going to have to pay for his stupidity. If she is as bad as they claim then she'll be on SSI for the rest of her life. She'll have free medical for the most part and if he has health insurance through work they'll cover most of what's not covered by SSI and Medicaid. We keep paying into SSI, Our health bennie's go up at work and we still have to pay all of our deductibles. It just Pisses me off everytime I think of all the freeloading POS taking advantage of our health system and I'm the guy that has to keep bending over to pay for it. OK, my rant is over...Sorry

"Wilson's wife Judy has been left with skull, facial, rib and scapular fractures and now has a prosthetic skull and permanent brain softening. Pain and assorted disorders will render her unemployable forever..."

I agree, Wilson's wife Judy is the defininition of a freeloading POS!!!
Guns don't kill people.
Drivers on Cell Phones do.

The injuries of the wife in this case are heartbreaking. I don't call this freeloading. While I have little respect for the way this case was set up and don't think that it should even have gone to trial, I'm also aware that the whole purpose of insurance is to help those who can't help themselves. I'm sure that if you asked the injured woman, who has now been abandoned by her "loving" husband, she woudl tell you that she would much rather have not gone through any of this.

Furthermore, even in her pain, the winning side can now come after the two plaintiffs for attorney fees and costs, not to mention the medical liens for medicare and hospital treatment which will likely dog them for the remainder of their lives.

There are no winners in this matter. I know the Harley dealer involved, having bought three motorcycles and a sidecar from him in the past 15 years, and I'm pretty sure that he's gone through hell as well.

We should all lighten up.

It's good the jury verdict was the right one, no need to set yet another insane precedent.  As far as the "freeloading" is concerned, I wouldn't want a dime from the SSI to begin with, let alone at this price to the well-being.  They will be in debt for the rest of their lives and I doubt very much the lienholders are going to get much more than ten cents on a dollar at best when it's all said and done.
At the end of the day, there are no winners here from any angle.  The defendants had to unnecessarily contend with a frivolous lawsuit and the plaintiffs are physically maimed.
All of this would have been avoided if the plaintiff were to use enough common sense not to get himself into this risk-prone predicament in the first place.
