Hey All,
I am trying to adjust the throttle cables on a 2010 xr1200 per the book. It says to hold throttle WO and adjust until the cam hits the stop, the book shows an XL pic which is different. When I follow the book the cam is 90* away from the stop. I tried the WO adjustment until the stop bareley touches the cam when released. Am I missing something? Im not sure I am comfortable with the wing and a prayer method, anyone have an explanation? Thanks in advance. JB

Are the 010's still carb? If they are, you need to turn your wheel fully to the left. Adjust cable adjuster per what your book says. NOTE! You should be adjusting the throttle cable at this point. If you had the carb and cables off, it is the cable that has the spring at the carb end and should be towards the backside of the carb.  :teeth: As I was saying, adjust throttle. after throttle cable has been adjusted, swing tire fully to the right and adjust throttle return cables per instructions. After you are satisfied with that, I like to straighten the wheel and see if the cable returns freely or not. I would suggest to have the bike running at this time then you can tell if it is responding the way that it should.  I am assuming that you do not have the Factory Service Manual???? If not, GET IT!! You will not be disappointed!!! :gob: Hope this helps..

Adjust the cable that opens the butterfly so that it hits the stop at the same time the twist grip hits its internal stop. This avoids unnecessary tension on the cable ends @ WOT.
Then adjust the other cable to take up the slack in the twistgrip.
That's it
