i just tore a 2000 fatboy apart that had a bad vibration . yes i found the problem . the sproket that is on the pinion shaft that helps balance the motor shifted or spun . is this fixable? or should i look for a new crank?

Call Darkhorse. I think that they might be able to fix it. It seems like I remember reading a while back that they had a better sprocket for the B cranks.

I have a great crank for a "B" FS if you like?
If you have to stop and think about if it is right or wrong, Assume it is wrong.

Darkhorse more than likely than not can fix your flywheel assembly.  As far as I know they are the only flywheel repair facility that can provide a new replacement balancer drive sprocket.  They can also tig weld the new sprocket in place to reduce the possibility of it shifting in the future.  I keep used sprockets from assemblies that were damaged beyond economical repair for replacement when the teeth of the sprocket aree damaged.  I also keep two sets of inspected, trued, plugged and welded assemblies on my shelves at most times.

Do you know how the balancer drive sprocket is set up on the S&S flywheels?  Are the sprockets new?  Welded?

I had Darkhorse go through and rework a S&S 4.5" wheel set for my "B" engine.  At the time he told me that the press fit is so tight on a S&S wheel set that no modifications were required.

Contact Hot-Shot Motorworks, they can either repair it or can rebalance it so you can completely eliminate the balancer assembly altogether.  They did one for my buddy and it is smooooth.

Really. I have to call MoCo and inform them they can save tons of money by eliminating them.

Sprockets for the balancer drive are not welded on S&S flywheels nor are the connecting pins as received from S&S.

You realize that we will get TIRED of your blatant advertising on here.  All the folks that have shops give their time FREELY on here to expand everyone's knowledge but you.   Some of us have LONG memories... and I seem to recall a certain set of heads......  I would hope that these things have been corrected over time as you have learned how to do crap, but the SELF promoting HAS to go.

Is one of the admins deleting threadsmessages?

Or was the guy embarrassed.. I seem to have made a comment here and it ended up missing.. Someone hypoglycemic?
