Craig when you rebuilt your tranny did you replace the bearings? If so where did you purchase them and who made them. All i can find here is china crap.

I did replace the bearings.  Sonnax (www.sonnax.com)  The part # on the bag is HDBR0001 (std size) 100 bearings per bag.  Drag Specialties part # DS198870  "MADE IN : USA" on the bag.

How about the right side mainshaft bearing oem #9020. I have a NSK#63O5-SZC3 on the box. 6305Z etched on the bearing.  Haven't tried it yet. Sealed on both sides. Son picked it up at a bearing house.Supposed to cross reference with the OEM. I dunno???

Sorry wrong # Box is 6305-2ZC3

That's probably right. I get most of the bearings that I put in old iron locally at a bearing house.

I ordered the bearings Fri should be here Thurs. Had to go to Wiston Salem Baptist Hospital this AM for Transplant check up. Stopped by Kendal Johnson customs while there. Talked to him about fitting some pistons to and old set of jugs I have had sitting around for years. He did some EVO jugs for me severall years ago with KB pistons. Excellent work. Says he uses only S&S, Andrews and Bakers for most of his work. Does more high performance work now than custom bikes. Has one hell of a machine shop and garage area. Stopped at a couple of other performance shops in that area. Seems like Jim's is loosing a lot of favor. Hear a few say a lot of Jim's parts were being made in Tiawan now. Dunno?? I do know according to Sonnax that Jim's is a distributor of Sonnax bearings now. Sonnax's has a whole separate list of HD bearings on web site with OEM numbers. Made in USA.

pankeomaniac,

What was your transplant for?  I have one more item to complete for Mayo to move from the low list to the high list.  That should be done next week.

When I get the mainshaft bearings with the side seals, I pry them out, to make them exactly like the early bearing.

I was in Winston-Salem about ten years ago supervising the the construction of the joining of the two existing hotels. There was a guy in town with one arm that rode a Pan and had a small HD repair shop.

Heart 12 years ago. Had a lot of complications due to my long wait in the hospital . Eight months on an VAD {artificial heart}. I was dying when I got there had one day to live. Heart is fine. Just a lot of rejection meds for life. The VAD was the size of a desk phone. Today they are the size of a pill bottle. And they are inside the body connected to a computer. Today they can implant them and send you home till a heart is available.
