Where do you buy yours? Harley dealer? Indy? Online? How do the prices compare for the same quality helmets?
You can't get rid of a bad temper by losing it!

Chose the helmet and find the best price. It will not be at a Harley dealer unless it is a half off sale price or other mark down. If you just want that Harley emblem on your helmet, buy a decal.

I have never bought a helmet online since I like to try it on and make sure it fits. Even if I have bought same model in the past. Usually buy at an indy.

The online retailers will take them back if it does not fit.  At least that has been my experience.

I have bought my most recent ones from J & M since I can get it with a headset already installed for less then I can buy the same helmet and headset seperately.

I got the new Harley Jet II 3/4  helmet with the drop down sun shades from the local dealer. This is my third Harley Jet helmet and each one is a upgrade from the last. They are made by HJC for Harley. This new one is quieter, you can take out the lining to clean and the face shield is easy to take off. I paid less than $130 for each of the last two, the first was free from the dealer when I purchased a new bike.

:agree: Especially when buying a full facehelmet...Why screw around with mailing back and forth when you can just go out and buy it?

Even bald my head is big so I don't play musical helmets through the mail, I have to try them on.
I wore a varsity helmet when I was on the 5th grade rocket football team.

A little food for thought: Harley helmets are all (near as I know) made by one of the well known manufacturers (KBC, HJC, etc). They may have some sort of flame or skull paint job but the same exact helmet nonetheless, except the price is much higher, because the helmet says Harley Davidson on it. Example, a few years ago, the HD "Stealth" helmet was on the shelves of dealerships. It was a KBC FFR helmet but for $60 more than online. I like to read the reviews of various helmets on WebBikeWorld and get an idea of some sort of short list. The top of that list for me right now is the new Shoei Neotec. I also like to try the helmet on. One of the local Asian bike dealerships stocks Shoei helmets as well as numerous other brands. They will sell me the helmet for a little over cost of the online price I show them, still considerable less than the HD dealership. Shop around and buy local if you can. I would do online but the chance of a poor fit and the time it takes to send back and forth, restock and shipping fees is worth the little bit extra I pay locally.

I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

I am into Shoei helmets (RJ Air).  I alway pick a helmet with venting (other helmet is a Arai Quantum).   I have not had an issue buying online or Ebay.  You need to make sure on the brand and size.

This is just my opinion, but Shoei > than HD helmets.

I just ordered 2 HJC modular helmets from motorcyclesuperstore.com,I shopped around and they had the best deal I could find.

I ordered an Arai RX-Q in black diamond from The Helmet Shop in Daytona for $424 and free shipping. It was the best price I could find anywhere. Just try one on at a dealer or show to get the correct size. Then, if your at a dealer, give them a chance to give you a good price. If your not happy with them (like I wasn't) for whatever reason, walk and order it from The Helmet Shop. You won't be disappointed.....
