Do you lube a throttle cable with a cruise roll off switch the same as a non cruise cable?  Normally just lube from one end. Does lube affect the switch itself in any way?

Just do a normal lube. I've never seen any effect on a cable with the switch in it.

The roll off switch has a foam rubber disk in it. The lube turned my disk to mush and killed the switch.

HD recommends lubing both cables.

My switch quit working after lubing the cables real good a couple of years ago. I blamed it on the lube, disconnected the switch and have not worried about it since then.

truck and bigfoot5x, did you use Lubit-8 Tufoil Chain and Cable Lube or some other product? Just wondering if MOCO would recommend something that would damage the roll-off switch.

I'm not sure anymore what the oil was. I started out using the oil recommended in the service manual and when that ran out I refilled the needle point container with 20 weight motor oil.

Well, that's a toss up, 2 bad switches after a lube job, and 2 no problems. Maybe I should just lube the throttle cable and leave the idle cable alone.
