I was told that the PC III eliminates the 02 sensors on my 08 Ultra, whereby making this an open loop system. Is this wise, or is it better to eliminate it? I know the T-Max is a total system with new 02 sensors, but you can't tune the cruise AFR for better gas mileage, can you?

I would recommend against it for some very good reasons and the TTS is a much superior product.
Give me a call and we can discuss this.

Yes you can tune the AFR through the entire range with the TMax, its a true wide band system.  The HD/Delphi is a narrow band and only goes into closed loop during cruise for EPA.

Unfortunately the TMax is still not aailable for the fly-by-wire touring bikes ('08 and later). It is expected out any day now and would be well worth the wait.

Paul if it's not out yet how do we know it will be worth the wait? The 08 has taken so long to be released makes me suspect that it could have problems.

Performance and user friendly wise should be the same. Apparently the nfly-by-wire was an issue. But if its anything like the improvement over the Delphi psuedo closed loop it should be an improvement over the OEM fly-by-wire.

I'd actually like to here from some guys using the TTS Vtune on the 08 bikes and how they are able to tune the bike. I am just as curious as the rest of you on the T-max. How do I know it's worthwhile waiting for. They should have had this out long ago. There must be problems. Converse to that, what are the problems in using the PC III?

The pcIII makes you have to go back to an open loop system, and you need a competent tuner to make it right, other than that it works well. I would perfer to stay with a feed back system. The more I read on the TTS the more I like it. It also looks to be a good bit cheaper than what the T max will retail .

The problem is the Delphi is not a real closed loop system. It is only in closed loop during cruise conditions and only leans out the AFR for EPA. With the Delphi narrow band sensors your in open loop probably 90% of the time; unless you do a lot of interstate running.

What are the parameters that put it back into open loop other than WFO?

Load, start up a hill, throttle movement. Closed comes in at light load, steady throttle; change that and it reverts to open loop.
