Hi guys what's the best solution to polish my covers. I have an 86 Evo and factory coating is peeling looks like hell.

You can have it chromed or there are new silver and even chrome powder coats now that look great, or there's always black.
If you want to do it yourself, you're in for a lot of work, but there are kits with all the attachments for a drill and polishing compounds you would need.
Or you can rough up the surface and paint it yourself with silver or black rattlecans.  Krylon and Rustoleum have paints that stick well to any surface.  I've used Krylon Fusion and Rustoleum Universal with good results on aluminum wheels and chrome bumpers that were in bad shape.

I went through this on my bikes.  I stripped off the factory coating with Jasco paint and epoxy remover and polished with Mothers.  Wasn't too much work as the coating preserved the aluminum from oxidizing and allowed for easy hand polishing.  I keep them looking good with an occasional rubdown with Mothers.  They look very nice.

I have chrome side covers, but did the above to my crappy looking forks.  You can get serious and sand with wet paper starting at 800 and going to 1500, then use alum. polish. Or you can just strip them and polish with Mothers. They will look nice and each time you use it, they will look better
I'm starting to believe my body is gonna outlast my mind.

Thanks for the tips guys, I guess I will try to polish them. The people I called about chroming they were talking outrageous money and they acted like they were doing me a favor. The cases barrells and heads are going to be black. I was going to paint the covers the same color as the bike when I painted it next year but now it would clash so polish it will be.

I got a cover EBay and was beat up, so I used VHT Wrinkle Plus and it came out great. You do have to figure out how to apply the paint and when to use a heat gun to get it to wrinkle. I had to recoat some sections and you would know it was re-coated. I found that you need to use the heat gun shortly after you lay down the paint. Also you need to bake the cover for at least a 1/2 hour, and I wouldn't put it in your oven that your old lady uses.
