Negative posts? :nix:
How could anyone give a negative post on workmanship like that?
I can imagine the time spent in the frame extension alone.
Very nice work in the build.
How long has the project taken to the point of the pixs?
How many skinned knuckles and curse words so far?
Definitely need finish paint pix please.

Some forums seem to dis bikes like this because the claim they are "show bikes" well.....Mine is gonna be a GO BIKE!  I hope to be blasting down the drag strip a few times a year.  My goal is a 11.0 with it.

I built the motor late Nov-Late January, then the first week of Feb I cut the neck off and started that project.  I already had the rear fender and bags on it.

My nuckles have been skinned way too many times, same with my wallet.  The wife is about to kill me.  I told her once its done, I will sell my wide glide and she can keep the difference after the loan is paid off.  I owe $1800 on it.   This bike was built with all cash, no loans or credit cards, thats why I picked an older SG.

Ah, crap!  Just when I was thinking of selling my 92" Shovel hot rod FLT.
I've got a plasma cutter and I know how to use it.

Hey, 76Shuvlinoff...HHHEEELLLLPPP!!!!  I'm doing it again......  :emoGroan:

RedRubi, I wouldn't sweat it, doesn't sound like you have any dissers on this site.
That's a fine lookin' ride and I can't wait to see it complete.  Can a guy have a mid-life crisis at 60?

I think it would be cool to build one with a shovel!  Hell, I think it would be cool to build any motor pre EVO since I have never had the chance to wrench on one.

mrmike

I like it, I like it a lot.

And your skills are something to be admired.

Now that you started this your obligated to post pics of the finished product, which means now you have to finish it,lol.

Hey Jason where are you setting the fender to lower spec?? I have a ton of room and have dropped it from that pic and still have more than enough. I have seen some that there is no way to ride the bike ... well without bashing the front fender.

Fork limit travel by JYC.  The RG has a 21in wheel but with that tire it's like running a 23.  The CVO is 21.  Both had room with the limit travelers.  Don't know what people are doing with 26's and up.

Mine are extended with the triple tree adapters/fork caps.  They are 2" longer.  In the pics I posted, I have the front air ride all the way down.  It has about 3-3.5" travel.  I installed air cylinders in the fork tubes.   Most guys are running stock length fork tubes with the 1" adapters and some use the 1" adapters and travel limiters.  The rake angle really changes things.

76, 10-4 on the old wallet thing  :emsad:  I'm sure I'd end up divorced after 35 years...unless she wanted to do that to her bike.

Actually, my plans are to take the fairing off my shovel and "Road King-ize" it.  It'll run with the evo's and some of the twinkie's now, if I lighten it up some, I really ought to smile.  Not sure how the raked frame and big wheel would handle the Ozark roads, though.  If I still lived in SoCal or Phoenix, I'd reallllllly be tempted.
This ain't Dodge City, and you ain't Bill Hickock.

Just about all finished up.  Just have to put the mufflers on, mount the license plate, throw some gas in it and go get it tuned.

Looks good and I have to admire the effort involved, I like seeing someone make it their own.     Sounds like it's a true hotrod too.

The only minor concern I have is it looks like that headlight ring is real close to the fender.  Is it one big big bump from a dent?

No, the front forks have travel limiters in them to stop them right where it is.  The front forks have 4" air cylinders in them to raise the front end up for riding.  The rear is also air ride.

Really, really, really love it......I to was a bit concerned about the guard hitting the headlight....but it seems you have it all worked out...good to see you build it the way you want it.....and not follow the rest of the  :sheep: .......again great work....

Soon!  I have to take it to Valley Racing as soon as they can squeeze me in.  Gotta see what kind of numbers this thing can put down!

Nice work, no negatives to find!
Hope you enjoy it.
Did you ever get the trail number figured out? As long as it rides right it doesn't matter but I am curious what the number ended up being.
Thanks for posting.

Not really, with the air ride in front and rear, it kinda changes things in that department.  I guess it all depends on where the suspension is going to settle when I find the most comfortable height.

It`s astonishing, and a real credit to you. Victory shoulda got you to design their bikes instead of Arlen Ness, maybe they`d sell a few more then.
Peace...those brief moments in history when everyone stands around reloading....

Just beautiful. You should be extremely proud. Brian will give you a great tune also.

Love the look.  From the very first photos I've wondered how you are going to get the headlight to work for you.  Between the height of the fender and where the light is located, I just can't help but think most of the light is going to be blocked by the fender.  I know you said you have air over on the shocks, but that almost make me think adjusting it is going to be a bear.  Let me know how it works out for ya.

Great looking bike.

Really looks sharp Red!  You should be proud of that bike when talking to someone about.

I bet you were one of those lucky kids that had a "Big Wheel".  :hyst:
