I have full coverage on my bike, but if I'm reading my policy right, I only have $5000 bodily. But I could be reading it wrong.
Which line am I supposed to be looking at?
To be honest, I don't usually pay as close attention to these things as I should. Tonite when I get home I will post exactly what's on there, and you guys can tell me whats what.

Not State Farm.  Not in Minnesota anyway.  They don't offer it.  Just the passenger is covered.
These are the facts according to my opinions.

I have been trying to get some straight answers about the insurance coverage, this is from my agent.

John,
After further review...If you are involved in motorcycle accident, the auto from your own household will cover you in the event of injury.  So, just as long as you have automobile coverages, and you do not hit another vehicle you will have coverages from your own auto policy.

The other vehicle part of her email means if you hit another vehicle that persons policy pays for medical coverage. According to her I do not need to add extra insurance on the bike.

You only need to be 10% smarter than the thing your working on.

There's sure a lot of ways to interpert this new law. I'll bet even the lawmakers in the state would have a hard time agreeing on what it means.
Listen to the jingle the rumble and the roar.

I just emailed this to our Governor's office.

I would like more information on Michigan's helmet law. Will the $20,000.00 minimum of medical insurance required by the law have to be added to the motorcycle policy? I have $1,000,000 health insurance policy that would cover me in the event of a single vehicle accident. I have received conflicting information from several different law enforcement agencies and insurance agents.

Good questions to have answered and you'd think they'd make the law clear so it would be easy to follow.

That said, I don't plan on riding helmetless, but sure have been surprised at how many are.  Seems most riders I've seen in the last couple weeks have been w/o.

Got my questions answered. If you have medical insurance that will cover you in the event of a single vehicle accident you do not need the $20,000.00
added to the bike policy.

Single vehicle accident? What if you blow a stop sign and hit the side of a car and get hurt? :potstir:

Why would the insurance from the car that you hit cover your medical?

I just bought a new bike on Tuesday. When I talked to my Auto-Owners agent she asked if I wanted the medical insurance to ride without a helmet and quoted me $22.00 for $100,000 of coverage. I asked her about the Bodily Injury coverage that I already had and thought that it covered me, she said no that covers someone that I might hit.
