I keep my TTS under the seat of my bike all of the time. Last week I rode in a heavy rain and now I get no response from it. I tried all three of my computers and get the same results, and I also tried my serial cable instead of the USB. Is it time to buy a new one or can they be repaired? Is there any other way to test it?

Ohio HD

I would get in touch with Steve Cole and ask about testing and or repair.

Water and unsealed electronics. Hmm, let me think. :hyst:

Try putting it in a bag of rice like people do with cell phones after they get wet. The rice will absorb moisture. One out of ten times it might even work.

Coyote

Pop the thing apart, wash it good under hot water and use and air hose to blow it off. It won't hurt anything and it will remove contaminants that may be keeping the processor from running.

...and since there is no voltage to worry about burning out chips, like Coyote said, let it dry completely and it should be good to go.
If not call Steve Cole and he will fix you up.

You DO keep it in a zip-lock bag, right?

I tried it again with the serial cable instead of the USB, and it works now.

That should indicate the USB adapter cable was bad not the dongle.
