Well, 3 years after a transmission failure my wife is riding her '85 FXEF again.  The only mods I made to the bike during the repair process was to take off the forward controls and add the floorboards.  Oh, and I took the 7" headlight off and went back to the stock setup.  I have to find a new passing light housing and them I can put them back on, but she' off the bagger and back on her Superglide.
Thanks to Mark and Kickstart and whoever else chimed in in the past for the help and encouragement.

Evo, that was the closest thing to 'school' that I could get on the plate.  even 'skul' and 'sch' are already taken

Wally, good to hear (and see) you got her all wrapped up and rolling again.  Makes me want to get my old girl out and put a few miles on her.  So far this year the 91 FLHTC is the only bike I have thrown my leg over and put any miles on this year.  Can't have the old girl getting jealous, or worse  :embarrassed:  These days when riding the FXEF she always seems to get looks and comments whenever / where ever I take her. Glad I have kept her while others have come and gone.

We were out the other day with her on the SG and me on the Shovel.  Every time we'd stop, someone would walk right past my Shovel to look at that stupid SG.  I possibly wouldn't have felt so bad if I'd been on the Evo FLT(or if Lynn hadn't kept rubbing it in), but I was really disappointed that no one noticed the Shovel.

Did get one, "Hey, that's pretty nice too, what is it?  A Night Train?"   :wtf:

It doesn't really matter, I guess...after all, I built all 3 of 'em.  :bike:

That is a nice looking ride! Wish my girlfriend would decide to ride a bike on her own. For now she is content to ride on the back of mine.

We figured it out one time.  Allowing for the age difference, my wife has been riding a year longer than me, and I got my first mini bike when I was 16.
When we moved to Arkansas, she was the first woman in the town with her own bike.
In fact, she's still the only woman in town that you'll see riding by herself.  All the other women who have bikes don't seem to ride unless they're with their SO's.

Can I pick 'em, or what?

OC fugedaboutit, it's rare my shovel draws a comment these days. I don't think most even know what it is.

..... but the lady's bike looks good bud!

Thanks 76 and all.  I just put it together the way she wanted it.  At least this year I didn't have to put the short bars on it for a month before she decided to go back to the apes.

Hey Wally, what happened to the kicker?  Did you take it off, or was it never ordered that way.  I understand it was an option, but I have not seen one without the kicker (until now)

Mark

This one never had a kicker.  The ID photos in the front of my FSM(which covers FX models '85 to '90)show the FXEF without a kicker, but the FXWG, FXSB, and the FXST for 1985 all show to have kickers.

Doesn't matter, my ol lady wouldn't use it anyway.  She had her old Ironhead kick back on her and ended up having 2 operations to fix her leg.  While she was in the hospital, I converted her XLCH to an XLH and she's never kicked a bike since then.

I would like to see her riding with those bars! I have yet to see a woman and few men ride with apes that high.
That's one sweet ride.
I think your both lucky!

I'm lucky to have found someone who'll put up with my crap.
I looked and the only pic I have of her actually riding is both of us on our Sportys about '99 or so.  She's been riding this one for almost 11 years.  Most of the time with those bars(16" plus the risers).  Periodically she makes me put a set of short bars on it, but that usually only last for a couple of weeks before she decides the bike doesn't have enough attitude for her.
