I am thinking of changing my pipe current V&H Big Shot Staggered pipes to a 2:1 pipe.  What would your pipe recommendation be for the build below and for the dyno results attached (you can see a good dip in the run around 2500-3500 rpm:

AMS 96 BB
AMS Ported Heads
Andrews 37
SE Breather
Dyna Ignition
V&H Big shot staggered

I am looking at a few pipes but am interested in the D&D FatCat.  Your recommendations?

Pull the trigger and don't look back, the drag pipes will make good Ebay items.

I've got an 03 FXDWG.  As far as loud...I like the sound of the V&H BSS so anything close would be good.  Tunable?  not sure.

What's the bike?

The Fatcat on a Softail is a great pipe but they produce a mid rpm Tq dip on baggers.

You looking for loud, louder, or something on the mellow side?

Tuneable to your build with the ability to change with build changes or fixed/non-tunable.

Here are two dyno runs of my last bike.

First is a V&H Straightshots with modified baffles, the second is a D&D Fatcat.  Both have very similar peak numbers but the Fatcat has more area under the curve and starts building Tq right off the start whereas the V&H flatlines before building Tq and the Fatcat carries the Tq out farther sop Hp continues to build.  Maybe not the best situation for a "B" motor limited at 6200 but it was sure fun to ride and you could shift at 6K and not worry about getting "off the cam".  Kinda neat to see the difference in just pipes.

For what it worth, I now have a little ol' 88" FLHX with a Supertrapp 2-1.

After years of loud pipes, the Fatcat by the way was very loud on the previous bike, I have come to appreciate quieter pipes as we tend to do a lot more distance riding.

My recommendation would be a Supertrapp but only because of the noise and it's is tunable to your specific build.

If you like/want loud, the Fatcat would be agood choice or the Thunderheader which can have a low end dip but it can be "tuned" somewhat by bending in the baffles tabs to improve or remove the dip.

How do you like the AMS build? For some reason the dyno graph shows no preview available when clicked to enlarge.

I like the build, it especially takes off when it's on the cam.  I'm just looking for a way to get better bottom end as I understand the V&H are contributing to it and 2:1 pipes have a tendency to correct it.

For the graphic, click on the paperclip and open in a graphic program like PSP to enlarge.

HDMDD,
I am running a Pro Pipe with an AMS build and I don't think you ca beat it. I have two sets of holes plugged on the baffle and have no torque dip. The dyno guy ran it with no baffle and with the baffle and only lost 2 hp at 5500 rpm, I think he wanted to try it out as he had no experience with the Pro Pipe. You can see my dyno chart in the thread  "26 or 21 here we go again" or something like that.

Ask Steve they will recommend the FatCat, especially for low end torque.  But if you want quiet be sure and get the quiet baffle and then it will be just okay as far as volume.  They tend to run on the louder side for long distance riding. If you want to be able to tune the pipe get the SuperTrapp, guys really like the quiet.  Are you going to do dyno tuning, then the ST has more advantages.  I really like my FatCat, ran it with the standard baffle, wore earplugs on long trips.  Switched to the quiet baffle and it is mellow when crusing and barks when I rat on it.  I'll run the FC until the EPA and DOT makes us run stock, great pipe.

If it is a softail? back on Jan. 23rd in the twincam swap meet there was a black white brothers e-pipe for sale! don't get much better than that

   Here's a 96 AMS/37 build with a White Brothers E-Pipe, which would be comparable to a SuperTrapp I think.
Dyno is in STD Format like yours for comparison.

So the concensus is either a:

D&D Fat Cat
Super Trap
or
White Brother

What's the best for my build?  I forgot to mention my build is not fuel injected, it has a MIK 42.

No one is best but for your setup it goems down to how loud do you want it to be?

Very loud: Fatcat with standard baffle

Loud:  Fatcat with quiet baffle

Not so loud:  Supertrapp with open end cap

Quieter yet:  Supertrapp with closed end cap

What's nice about the Supertrapp is you can swap the end cap ($20 piece) if you want it louder or quieter plus it's tunable with the diffuer discs.

Can't speak much about the E Series, it was the gold standard for 2-1s but no longer avaliable unless you pick one up used for find someone with new unsold older inventory.  It is tunable like the Supertrapp but don't know if it has the option of an open or closed end cap.  I have a Supertrapp on my Street Glide and my wife's Softail Deluxe, both with closed end caps and without a doubt the softail/dayna Supertrapp is louder than the bagger Trapp.  Loud enough for you?  Only you can answer that one.

Not sure if you've heard the V&H BSS, but I'm sure you have, which of the pipes you discussed in your threads are as loud (equal) as the V&H's?

se

the fat cat is not as loud as the BSS are and as far as the tq dip you might see it but you do not feel it. so many people talk about that dip you will not feel that dip at all i ran the bss and fat cat  nite and day the fat cat is way better then the Bssa nd i never felt the tq dip.
