If you take a .045 MLS Cometic and pull the center out can you run the two steels only? If so what is the resulting thickness?
TIA

Outers are .010, likely on all of them. Center is likely used to change thickness between them. So I make it as .020- .002 over two areas of viton compression = .018. My best guess. :nix:

Dead on from my experience (.010 per viton coated plate, center is a thickness spacer.) . Use to split them up all the time on two strokes back in the day. No reason imo a harley would be any different.

I'd get a hold of Cometic, to see their thoughts.

I think cometic can custom make gaskets down to .020 thick.  I had one made for a polaris ranger 700.

I'd have to also wonder if the material is not slightly softer to take up any variance in head gasket surface imperfection/warpage?
Speed costs money. How fast do you want to spend?

HQ have .018" MLS listed in 3.875" TC application, although I haven't used them yet.
