would there be much noticeable difference between the lower end and midgrade Ohlins? @fastultradave- you like your progressive 940's then? i guess pretty much anything would be a step up from the harley low shocks from what i'm getting on here so far.

I dont know about the between the 3 grades. People seem to love them. I gotbthe high end and cant seem to get a 1500 ride out of them. I cant seem to find a combination for compression and rebound worth a damn. Id get tje mid range if you are getting aa set.

I have the 3-3s and really like them although on the HDF forum a lot of guys have gone with the cheaper 2-2s and swear by them also.

Dont know if you know about shocks or not, but if you dont:
Did you get these from Howard, he will walk you through setting them up, if you havent already tried that. ?

Getting the spring set to the correct sag is the first thing to get set properly.

I find that getting the rebound damping right is a matter of working from too firm down by 5 clicks at a time until it feels good, then a couple either side of that to fine tune it.There are around 60 clicks in all, but it pays to have it finally set just to the low side of middle so it can be increased for 2 up and heavily loaded.

The compression damping works with the spring and is the least important setting.I dont have separate compression on mine, but if I did, I would start low and keep increasing it until I felt it making a difference, then back it off a couple of clicks.

I am about 180 lbs and I have the 940's on my 2011 RGU and with the stock springs I got zero sag and ride was rock hard.  I sent them back to Progressive and they replaced the springs with lighter springs and still only get about 1/2" sag on lightest preload setting and still pretty harsh.  I had 13" 440's with standard springs on my 04 egc and it had a much better ride then my 940's and if i had to do it over again I would go with 13" 440's on my rgu.  they 940's are advertised to be 1" lower but give the same ride as 13" shocks but that is not what I have found with my weight.  I am sure heavier people would have different results.
In sturgis so stopped by progressive suspension and told them i was not happy with the ride they told me to bring my bike to their both so they could look at it.  They agreed it seemed too little sag put a set of springs from a set of standard 13" 440 shocks the 940's have12" shocks with a spacer and night and day difference. Great service on the spot took them about twenty minutes and i was on my way.
