Found a used Sundowner seat but have no experience with that brand.

Anyone like/dislike them?

I have never owned a sundowner, but what I did with my SG seat was to send it to Mean City Cycles. They installed double memory foam. Now I like it, and it still looks stock.

I love my sundowner. Have mine on a 2007 deuce. Recently put on about 3000 miles in 4 days. This is with no windshield and my sundowner. Last day was over 700 miles and I could have kept going. My wrist and hip were sore, but the seat was still perfectly comfortable

well that's a pretty good endorsement. I'm pretty good on padding around the front, but don't have much on my ass. Need somethin' comfy for 500+ mile days.

Sundowner will definitely do it for ya. At least it does for me anyway. A side note on that though, one thing I don't like about it is in town riding. The cushion o the seat that holds you in place and kind of cradle the side of your legs, that part makes it a little awkward putting your feet downin stop and go traffic. Not really bothersome, just something I noticed. If I'm not gonna be doin any long distances any time soon I have a C&C seat I put on. It's comfortable also but mainly for looks

I have had either the regular Sundowner or the TallBoy on all 3 of my Harley's. I've put 150,000 miles on them since 2000. To me, I think they are great seats and very reasonably priced. The stock seats suck and these are bought when I buy the bike.

I have a sundowner for my dyna for 2 up riding only. wife says it puts her to far above me. I say it positions me to close to the bars. Im 6'2" and she is 5' 2".
The Harley dealer has different demo seats you cam try. Just go there and borrow one and see how you like it.
As soon as I get enough money Ill be looking into a different seat for us. And this forum will see another Sundowner for sale. :soda:

I tried alot of seats on baggers, I now have a Sundowner for long trips

N-gin, you should try the Tallboy. It moves you back an inch or so plus has more padding. I'm 6'5" and all of the stock seats have me too close to the tank.

Good decision.  Just to add my two cents, I have 30,000 miles on the Sundowner on my RKC and 10,000 miles with the Sundowner on my Ultra.  Couldn't be happier.

Sundowners r great. Had one on a Sportster and then a Dyna. Just sold Dyna buyer didn't want seat. Will have it for sale as soon as I can write the ad. Off of a 2000 Dyna Superglide. Will fit many models.

my last 6 harleys have had sundownbers,,, love them! and really love the price!! stop by your local dealer, they should have a demo deat you can install and try out for a couple of hours,,, we will actually trade your stock seat in for $50...

boooby1744

Go to a dealer and try one of the demo seats ...............

Had mine since '01, 75,000 miles. Been a great seat. Had it re-covered 2 years ago because the studs(ugly) were ripping out.
Are there better seats? Probably. But the price and availability make it a good value in my opinion.
Hate to spend $500 or $600 on a seat and not like it then live with it and be miserable or go thru the hassle of trying to return it.
Quick aside: talked to someone who had a Corbin. Liked it but said it took about a year to break in. A year? Are you kidding me? What if it didn't break in? Good luck returning that one. If it's not comfortable after a couple hours, what's the point?

I had a sundowner on my 06 Ultra...the most comfortable seat I had been on...I could do endless miles on it and not complain
so when I got my 09 street glide I went and bought a sundowner for it since I wanted a nice comfortable seat...let me tell you its night and day difference being the 09 seat is just down right uncomfortable to sit in for any long time frame...personally I disappointed in it...That being said I had a chance to ride a trike with a Corbin and after I was in the saddle all day on my sundowner and road the Corbin I was impressed to find how my bottom did not even reassemble hurting while I was on it...I only rode it perhaps 20 mins. one way and then got off and the back but no discomfort at all to speak of...

I've had one on the RK for about 6 years. I do not have anything negative to say about it.
