Leaving for SD on July 28th, from Pittsburgh, traveling 70W to Indy, 74W to 80W to 29N to 90W, any major hiway construction or anything of that nature to slow us down ?

Thanks

This'll help on the Iowa portion:

I can tell you that I80 in the eastern half of Iowa is the best it's been in many years. I ran from Iowa City to Newton last week and it was beautifully smooth.
The other handy new feature is the cable barriers the DOT has installed to keep cars from crossing the median, ALL cars, including the Highway Patrol, except about every 5 miles where there's a crossover.

Listen to the jingle the rumble and the roar.

You can use / Google the abbreviation of ANY state: TX UT MA MS CA etc followed by DOT (do not leave a space = i.e. TXDOT  IADOT PADOT etc) - should bring up each states dept of transportation links

If anyone is travelling across Nebraska stay off of I-80 if at all possible its one work zone after another. We have all kinds of roads that are decent and far more scenic anyway. hwy 6 and 23 If anyone wants any info on crossing the state pm me and I can recommend some good roads that are actually fun to ride. Like the Arnold-Dunning county blacktop not even on some maps. I know most people hate to think of crossing Nebraska and say its so long and boring but there are some decent routes across it if you do a little homework.

For those travelling across Nebraska,Last Thursday I rode from Grand Island- Thedford- Valentine, then back, personally I prefer Grand Island to Ansley (2) north to Taylor (183) west to Brewster (91) north to Ainsworth (7) then west on 20 to Valentine as opposed to GI-Thedford-Valentine. Less traffic a little longer but off the beaten path. All roads were pretty decent. hwy 136w-50n- 41w-81n in se NE is in good shape if coming from MO, beats taking 2 thru Lincoln, but I prefer the skinny roads on the bike anyway as opposed to the 4 lanes, you see more of the small towns.

The last time we took I 90 west out of Sioux Falls going to Sturgis, I broke a softail shock.  It was unbelievably rough, by far the roughest interstate I've ever ridden.  I swore I'd never do it again.  It's been 8-9 years and haven't been on it.  We go diagonally across Nebraska, like Nebraskarider 1 said, and South Dakota.  Good roads, good ride with a minimum of traffic.

Yesterday I rode from Lusk WY back to Grand Island. I came in on 20 to Crawford and then took hwy 2 all the way back to Grand Island. One minor construction area west of Mullen if I remember correctly, it was shoulder work so nothing is on the road surface you just have to follow a pilot car about a mile. Thedford had 91 octane without alcohol and I think 92 with. 20 was all good as is 83 to Valentine. Broken Bow and Ansley, 89 with alcohol is all you get checked every station in town in the past month. If coming up 83 thru North Platte the station on the Stapleton corner had 92 or 93 but can't remember if it had alcohol but pretty sure it did. Hwy92 west to Tryon then 97 north to Valentine is a nicer ride than 83 but there was some road construction posted on 97 south of Mullen, not sure how much or how severe. If you come across 20 the bar in Atkinson on the west side of the street (the north one, there is 2 bars) has a real good burger, but tell them you want extra fries if you're hungry. Bunkhouse in Valentine is not too bad either.
