I've got a 2004 bagger, stock foot boards. The rubber balls on the underside of the inserts are tearing, and I've been through 2 sets. The left side gives out berfore the right side. On my previous baggers, never had any issues, with more age/miles than this bike. Wonder if the rubber has gotten cheaper (China) or I'm doing something differrent with my feet, but think I'm riding the same. When I replaced them 3 seasons ago did not notice any sharp edges in the mounting holes. Anyone else notice them tearing?

That what makes the Share Holder Happy, more money saved at the manufacturing level means they can charge the same or more for the product all the while increasing dividends...

About 2 years ago as I was getting ready to leave for a weekend trip I noticed my left side insert was being held in by the rear ball only as the fronts had torn.  The balls were still in the footboard, and I didn't have time to replace before I left so I put RTV where they had torn and set the insert back in place.  Took the trip and bought replacement inserts when I got back figuring I'd replace when they came loose again.  They are still sitting in the box waiting for the RTV to let go.  YMMV.
