What's wrong with the old standby = UnderArmor winter longjohns/jeans and a pair of chaps? Been wearing this setup fo over 30 years here in the Chicago area all winter long. When I get to my destination I can remove the chaps and be comfortable. Besides I don't really have a problem with the cold below the belt. Above the belt I need electrics.  :teeth:
If it really gets cold, I pull on a pair of wool knee warmers under the jeans. And if it REALLY gets cold, I put on a set of those Thermocare chemical knee heaters, but that's rare.

I don't think I would like to sit around in stiff leather pants for any length of time.  AND, I hate to say it, but I can't get over the connotation of The Village People.  :emoGroan:

I've been using the First Gear over pants for many years and they are wind proof and water proof, easy to take off and put on and good to freezing without the liner in them.

I bought one of them thar Aerostich Roadcrafter (tm)(R)(C)(all rights reserved)(etc) suits fifteen years and 150,000 miles ago. For my money (lots of my money  :emsad:) it's about the best stuff you can get. Warm enough that I just wear it over jeans (rarely long johns) in sub-freezing weather, but tolerable in hot weather. Really nice when touring National Parks, as I can wear it over shorts and be reasonably comfortable on the bike, super-comfortable on the trail to the waterfall, geyser, or whatever. It's still waterproof after all these years and miles (I just tested this in 160 miles of rain on my way home from the Potosi Beer Fest in August). And, (though I haven't tested this feature and would prefer not to), I'm told it'll hold up pretty well in a crash. Plus, it earns me equal scorn from both Harley and BMW fashionistas (the Harley guys think I'm dressed to clean out the septic tank, while the Beemer boys ask why I'm riding a piece of farm equipment). What's not to like? Oh, yeah, the price... and the fact that if I'd known it would last this long, I'd have bought it a size or two bigger...

I'm still a bit skeptical. Anything made for winter riding can't possibly be comfortable in summer....in my opinion.  That's why I have a FirstGear mesh summer jacket instead of my winter leather one.....I would cook in it.

Yup, theres nothing wrong with thermal underswear, jeans and chaps........till its raining and the airtemp is just a bit above 40. Then, it sux.
I am Lovin the new textile HD gear. I've never had teckno riding gear before, and I'll never wear it in summer, but for early spring and late fall its gonna be awesome.
I'll be pullin out of North Georgia on Monday morning.... Heading home to the Canadian border.
I'm enjoying the 80 degree weather. My last until next spring.
Cheers all,
Ride smart 'n be safe.
