Will this style motor primary and trans fit into a softail frame,,,,,or a rigid,,,,,,or do I need to stay with those ugly styled big frames. I am wanting to make make a custom type cross 50s styled bobber slash 60s grease machine type bike? And have a complete 1998 Evo drivetrain to use.

Won't fit Softail......oil pan would be in the way.

Ok,,,,,,if softail is out,,,,then,,,,,next option is rigid,,,,,,,or aftermarket swing arm type frame correct,,,,,I dislike those bigassed moco frames.

You need a different tranny case and primary to put it in there.

In a custom application, you could tie the engine to the gearbox, via open belt.

The motor, tranny and primary you have all bolt together in a nice neat little package. If you want to build a rigid or Softail you'll need a Softail transmission case. The gearset will interchange between the two cases fairly easily. As for the primary, the compensator and the clutch assembly will work fine. You'll need the longer Softail/Dyna chain and primary case. If you are looking to use a 50's or 60's style you can still get the steel primary from Paughco for the EVO motor but will have to fab the support for your mainshaft on the tranny. Another option is an open belt.
My brother tore down his 89 FLHS and built a cool little rigid chopper using a rolling chassis kit with a Revtech 4 speed kicker tranny. He's running an open belt on it. No problems at all.
