Looking into doing some suspension upgrades on my 2006 Superglide. would like to do a spring change in the forks and new shocks for the rear. So many choices out there and was looking for some input from someone who has done some changes to the stock setup. Thanks for any info

I put Works performance shocks on the rear of a Dyna. When I called to order them I was asked several questions about weight and riding style so the shocks were supposed to be tailored to me. I liked the way they worked but I really liked that they could be adjusted for different loads without using a tool.

I ran Ikon fork springs with Ohlins shocks on my old superglide with great results.

I read about several different way to change the dampening characteristics of the forks and this is what I decide to use http://store.ricorshocks.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=27  along with Progressive fork springs.  These are a big improvement, they stops the front end dive when braking hard and give a better ride on all road surfaces.

Next Change was to install a set of 440 Progressives shocks on the rear, they are great shocks with excellent dampening... not sure how much better they are over the 412's but I found them cheap on eBay and decided to try them.

Final change?   I installed the True Track, it was a total pain in the ass to install, it took me about four hour to do.

Just found the answer to my own question on Ohlins site, stock shocks are 12" .

My 06 fxdi had 13 inch shocks from the factory-5hd export OZ model. I fitted the ohlins 36e 12 3/4 shocks but should have gone the 13 inch living in country OZ with bad roads. The Ohlins have 3 1/2 inch travel from memory unlike the stock showa having 2 1/2 inch travel. Any brand is going to be better than those out dated HD (showa) shocks.

My 07 Street Bob also had 12" stock shocks. I then tried the 440's and was not as good as I hoped. So I talked to Howard at Motorcycle Metals and decided on the Ohlins 3-3, which are about 1/2" longer and intended for an FL. He set them up for my bike and riding style and the improvement in handling and comfort is amazing. Howard's knowledge on suspension has to be one of the best and he will take his time and make sure you understand what is going on.
I did put some Progressive springs on my front end and they helped a bit, but once my budget allows I will be looking at the next step for the front.
