Got a garmin c550, has a ball mount and I'm looking for ideas to attach a teather so it doesn't go bouncing down the road if it falls off the ball. Any ideas? TIA

For my Zumo, I figure the power cord would hold it. It's screwed into the zumo though. Not sure what yours looks like. Maybe use one of those self adhesive squares that are used with wire ties and connect to that?

I have a Magellan that I suction cupped to the windshield. Used a zip tie tethered loosely to the clutch cable.  Road up to Oatman AZ on old route 66 (really rough) and unit never budged.  Could undo mount and leave the zip tie or just cut it off.

I've ridden many thousands of miles with my Garmin 2720 attached to the ball (handlebar mount) on the bike and on a windshield suction cup in a auto. No problems at all with the ball mount coming loose. Same thing with other GPS users that I know. Not something I'd worry about. If you have to, you could always look at attaching some kind of small flexible metal wire to one of the mounting screws on the GPS and somewhere else on the bike.

Go to Ram Mount and get a proper motorcycle mount for the GPS.  http://www.ram-mount.com/products/motorcycles.htm

I've have their mount for my Garmin 76CsX and it stayed attached to the bike when I laid it down in the rain in TN at 60 MPH on I-75 (ouchies)

This company supplied the handlebar mount for my Zumo.  Excellent products & service.  Full range of bar mounts & others here - black or chrome.

Yeah, I got one of the Ram mounts, seems like they work well, and I kinda thought the power-plug would hold it ok just in case. Guess I'm a "belt & suspenders" guy.

I have a Streetpilot c580.  I know what you mean, I don't trust the ball/socket either.  I couldn't figure out a good way to tether it so I did this:

Great idea stro. Didn't even think of something like that.  :bf:
