Might check for an extension adapter for the kicker shaft. Or make one.

Jer,

What is the offset of your current kick arm?  I have one that's got a pretty big offset on the shelf in my garage.  You are welcome to it if it will work.  I'll have to measure the exact offset when I get home.

Here is an old photo from 2004 when I was using the offset kicker arm...

jerite

hey craig....i appreciate the offer. i will measure and post a little later today. thanx again..........jer

Jer, I just measured mine and its also 1-7/8" offset. See photo to see how I measured so we know we are taking the same measurement.

jerite

craig yes we are measuring the same way. thx..jer

Ok.  Sounds like mine won't help you then.  But if you think it will, PM me your address and I'll put it in the mail to you.

Jer, have you found a solution yet? I was at the swapmeet this last Sunday and digging through some of our own boxes found a late FX style kicker (ankle breaker) with a really long throw and very wide off set. I'm going in to the shop today but since we have our yearly 50% off sale today, I doubt I'll have any time to even drag it out and get a pic.
Let me know.

Easy- well i ordered some different pipes that drop down infront of trans and under. but, i may have an issue on those too, have not recieved them yet to try. beings that this trans is offset 1" might hit below too. not sure. if the offset in kicker is like 2" or more it should work. let me know if you find it and thank you for thinking of me......jer

When I installed the 5 inna 4 trans on my FLH the only off the shelf pipe I could fit around it was a Thunderheader or Paugho true duals, I never looked at over-the-trans pipes since I figured the FLH battery and relay cover would be in the way. The bike sits a bit low so a pair of under the trans pipes would be dragging.

The T-header was a bit loud for me so she wears my old beat up set of true duals now. Probably not the look your going for with a chop. I have always wondered if I replaced the kicker cover with a non kicker cover maybe the stock pipe would clear it.

If your pipes hit "just a smidge" maybe a strategically placed dent would work? (yeah I know, makes you a little sick to dent a good pipe.)

Good luck

OK well let me know. It's laying in our storage building with my Pan, so if you want it, it's yours. I haven't made it back there yet this week, I let myself get a little consumed with the 78 :embarrassed:

Just asking the question here, but if you have that kind of offset with the kick lever, doesn't that put an abnormal amount of sideways pressure on the shaft when you kick down? Wouldn't you need to make some kind of carrier bearing for the added pressure??

jerite

well the current lever just barely hits...so extra offset only needs to be about another 1/8" - 1/4"...to clear.......jer
