What is the best method of cleaning rotors? My dual disc front brakes don't work well in the rain and the rear doesn't work all that well either. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks

Tobias

Any Brake Cleaner should clean off any oil off the rotor.

What do the pads look like, are they oil soaked, or glazed?
Do you have good pressure in the system, or is it spongy?
What is the rotor surface like smooth, or worn with grooves?

Factory or aftermarket? Any modifications?  Can you lock em up if you want to?

The rotors are good with no grooves and I have good brake fluid pressure. I will check the pads soon. So what you are saying is to just wipe down the rotors with brake cleaner once in a while? Is that correct?

I can lock them up on dry pavement but not wet pavement.

"IF" the only problem is some crap on the rotors then yes Brake Cleaner will clean them up.
Since they are worse when they are wet I'm thinking that your pads are glazed.
If the pads still have decent thickness you can deglaze them with a few hits from a belt sander.
Try to deglaze them at 90 degrees to the direction of rotation (up and down, not the same way they will press against the rotor)
Are your rotors drilled, or solids?

Fronts are drilled but the rear is solid. Thanks for the tips, I will buff the pads since they do look a little glazed. Thanks again

The next time you have that rear off for new tire think about a drilled rotor. Polished and all that is nice but you really don't need it.

I don't know what you're working with but if it's a multiple piston caliper make sure all pistons are working and not frozen in the bores.

Good Luck.
