Greetings to all.
Apparently w/o an explanation, H-D has stopped (cancel) shipping of CVO Breakout bike...

Here is my story, and I would like an explanation from our biker community....someone has to know what is going on...is it  bs from my dealer? is it true? ...what's the true story?

I went to a dealer where my friends and I usually buy our Harleys. I have left a deposit for a CVO Breakout although the dealer had only one coming sometime this April. At the time of this transaction, early Jan, I was informed that there was only one CVO Breakout due in that dealership by April and some one had left a reserve deposit,  already. I told the sales person that I was leaving a deposit in case the guy change his mind or if nothing had change and no more CVO Breakout were coming this year, I want to have my deposit in for the next year 2014 model.
Today, I stopped by the dealer and I was told that they got a call from H-D to inform them that all CVO Breakouts shipping to all dealers was cancel (not suspended as I thought first, but cancel all together). The dealer does not have an email to show for this rare thing. He had only a phone call. The dealer was worried that the guy that was waiting for the bike was not going to believe him and he was looking for some kind of written document from H-D so, the customer may not think that they were BSing him and perhaps the bike was sold to a "higher bidder"

Does any one have heard anything like this about the CVO Breakout? Cancel the shipping of about 600 bikes across the country? Perhaps is only this dealer that has been "punished"?
Please do your investigation and share the info. Why H-D would do this? Have they find something wrong with the one sold and on the road now?

Regards

Did you try calling Mother HD and asking them?  From what I see, they're still advertising them on the main site and asking around $18K. I think someone is blow air up your skirt.

My buddy who is a salesman checke the HD web and texted me that Blueridge HD in Hickory NC & Cox's HD in Ashboro both have 1 in the Diamond & Silver color and there are 4 dealers in Georgia that have the same color. The CVO version is available

My buddy says your dealer is telling a BS story.

I just got this email to add his response to this >>

H-D just released the new Standard Breakout model so they didn't stop producing them they have actually added to the line. They had to build at least 1000 of the new model Breakout so that every U.S. dealer would receive Big Blue Pearl and all their SRO's a Vivid Black one. By the
End of March. We all have received them.

Probably too many lawsuits from people tripping over that ugly assed license plate hanging off the left side.  What the hell were they thinking?

tomcat64

we got an e-mail today stating that the faze 6 (may, june) CVO breakout is cancelled. ours is being replaced by a CVO ultra... Yaaayyyy!!!!!

NETacomaFatboy

If you want it that bad, go find it.  It's out there.  Dealers get lazy when they have to do too much work.  I know when I was looking for my SE 06 Fatboy.  Dealer could not find the color combo I wanted and in the end, the Sales Manager told me to buy it if I could find it elsewhere.  Duh!  In the end, I found it else where.  The Dealers could care less about losing a sale or 2.  They just want the ones that involve the less work for them.

Idiots are fun, no wonder every village wants one.

I guess it wasn't a "breakout" as far as sales numbers.     Rick

Rumor has it the CVO Breakout will be reintroduced with H2O cooled heads be called the waterspout.

:hyst:  Jeff,  That is only the first production run after that they will have the leaks plugged.   Rick

Or they may call it the CVO H2O model.  :pop:

I have read all kind of answer or thoughts about this thread. About Rags 722 answer, coincidentally, the dealer told me that his CVO Breakout scheduled delivery for April was replaced by a CVO Ultra instead...
Dealer told me they have cancel (suspended?) shipments of schedule deliveries but he did not say suspended production of this particular model. It is all intriguing to me...

I have "copy and pasted" other H-D forums answer/comments...

1.-That is news to me. I'm sure there are a few Breakouts to be had, but you might have to do some travelling to find one and run the risk of dealing with a dealership that you aren't familiar with who will TRY to get you to pay way above MSRP.

2.-Still shipping them. Just got mine and all Australian Dealers were allocated an extra CVO Breakout when HD released the base model Breakout a few weeks ago.

3.-read the title & thought Far...........out

4.-but I am sure they have shipped enough now to know if they had a problem or not, even if there was a problem they would only put a hold on shipping any further bikes not cancel all outstanding orders

regards

rod

5.-I think they are messing with you.. Sorry to hear that

6.-I have a friend who's cousin has a son that his best friend's brother works at a uniform service that cleans uniforms for H-D and he said . . .

7.-They are still being advertised for as being for sale.

8.-Personally, I'd try another dealer. Might have been an "if available" order, or the dealer might have been thinking there would be an extra scooter allocated to him. Or it could have even been sold at a higher price.

9.-I know some dealers have them on the floor.

10.-I've been reading about paint problems on them over at cvoharley.com

11.-Contact Harley Customer service in Milwaukee (414) 343-4056

12.-The Breakout is the only 2013 that has caught my attention, it's a bummer that shipment was halted. Hopefully the process that produces that unusual eye-catching paint job can be worked out on the scale needed for production.

I just had a guy who works for me buy one, he had to travel from Oklahoma to Illinois.  Not a bad looking bike, but IMHO a lot a coin for what it is.

I'm starting to think, more and more, that the original copied message was an April Fool's prank.

The Asian market mention seems to be politically motivated to me, also.

The non-CVO Breakouts were going to dealers as blue only with the other colors becoming available. It seems to me that HD is trying to not over-produce a new model by sacrificing the production of their other models. The CVO models are limited production. Maybe they were popular enough that they sold out the entire production allotment?

I saw a whole bunch of people at bikeweek that were hot for Roadglides since this is their "last year" in their current form. When I was at the demo stand, the touring bike line was the longest by far. I had no trouble jumping onto a Breakout within minutes of getting in line. I rode a Roadking also. Personally, I like the Breakout's throttle by cable SOOOOOO much better than the Roadglide's throttle by wire. The handling of both was excellent. It was weird to ride a stock noise level Harley, however! <grin>

April Fool you say? But doesn't everything on the Internet have to be true?

I also like a cable throttle. That's another feature that I like on my 2011 Dyna Street Bob. It's nice to have a throttle that is simple and easy to understand.

There is a CVO breakout at Pocono mountain Harley in PA

I looked in the dealer's webpage but they do not have it in the New Inventory. They do not update their webpage often enough. Do you know what color is this CVO Breakout? I am interested in the Crimson Red one.
Thanks

BTW...some CVO Breakouts are appearing in some dealerships. The dealer that told me the shipping of those bikes were cancel, received 2 units to be delivery to customers that were waiting since, one from October and one from December 2012. The bikes are on the floor corralled among other sold units. Seems to me that H-D ran into paint related production issues. The rumor is that this was the only year for this CVO model and next year they were going to have a CVO Heritage classic...who knows...

I've seen a number of CVO motorcycles and they are certainly nicely finished. A friend has one of the FXR II CVO bikes (2003?) and it's very nice indeed. Everything is chrome, polished and very select in every respect. The paint even llooks better, although HD has got some great paint on all of their machines.

In my case, being just a poor retired lawyer, I have to make do with a peasant model, run of the mill Dyna Street Bob. It's OK, though. The worst day on a Harley is better than a week on something else. My motto is "Better a daughter in a whorehouse than a son on a Hionda".

I have an FXR2. Beautiful bike and unbelievable handling. It was 1999. It was the last FXR and the first CVO HD ever introduced.

The one that I saw was red with a red frame. It was a very nice looking machine!
