What are you using for wax/polish?  I have been seeing commercials for NuFinish, is this a good product to use on the bike?

Man this is a subjective topic.  Haven't used NuFinish,  but I like the latest wax from Meguiar's,  Ultimate Wax, http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/g18216-ultimate-wax-liquid/.   Wipes off easy,  gives  a little deeper/better shine and isn't as bad about leaving crusty residue,  not a cleaner wax (would need a different/additional product for that).  Best I've used from a Walmart shelve. Turtle Wax Ice liquid. Been using it for years works on chrome and plastic as well and no white crap in the nooks and crannies. I'll use the Turtle Wax Liquid Clay bar once or twice a year to give the paint a good cleaning.

IMHO the easier it is for you to wax your bike the more likely you are to do it and I've had people tell me my bike looks like it's brand new though not right now. :embarrassed:

After 25 years of using paste wax on the fire engine I started using the TurtleWax Ice on that thing too, for the very same reason, I buy it myself because the Dept. sure won't, lol.

I always use Carnauba wax.  I think that it gives a deeper shine.  I usually wax every time I wash.  It takes a little longer but I enjoy putting my hands on the scoot.

I used NuFinish for years.  Great stuff and iirc, years ago consumer reports found it to be the longest lasting wax available.  Not sure if that still holds true.  As far as what I use now - I use Harley Glaze Polish and Sealant.  Seems to work well for me.

I've found there really is a difference in the products made specifically for motorcycles. I started off using automotive waxes and switched to S100 products.

If you really want to stay with automobile wax stick to the Meguiar's as it does not leave a white residue on the black trim.

Wow! All this talkin about waxin on, and waxin off, has got me inspired to clean up the Red Head today! Well, that and it's rainin.....
But I like and use Turtle Wax 2001.

But be careful of those pinstripes the previous owner had applied, with no clear coat. .

Goes on real easy, comes off even easier. So easy I can wax the whole bike/car, come back later and wipes off no sweat. Many car guys who enter in the Autorama in Detroit swear by it. I do now too!

I use Sea Brite Marine Polish with Teflon. Very hard deep shine. Long lasting, only do it twice a year.

My bike doesn't sit outside in the elements , so no wax needed . I just use Meguiers #7 glaze about every month or before every bike show .

This is as exciting as an oil thread.  I was a fan of the Turtle Wax ICE for a day or so.  Then I noticed my Grand Prix kept looking like it was oily.  The ICE went on easy like they said, you could apply it in full sun like they said, and left no white dust like they said, but what they didn't say was you needed to wipe it about 100 days before you kept seeing where you had stopped wiping the last time.  Maybe it would be better on a bike where your arm wouldn't fall off from wiping, but on a 10 year old Grand Prix, it just didn't pull my trigger.

I use Meguires liquid.
To remove the white from the nooks and crannies I use an acid brush to brush it away.
Listen to the jingle the rumble and the roar.

Wow. Some great responses, thank you all. I have a few products to choose from, but at least now have a place to start.

Thanks all

If you want to get rid of the white residue after waxing try peanut oil.

I don't know if there's much difference between all the waxes except don't use most of them in the sun or you'll have a hard time getting off the wax. NuFinish is what I've been using for years on my cars and motorhome since they are outside and I usually wax them when it's warm and sunny and have no problems getting the wax off.

Mequires tech wax NXT works great , no white residue on the rubber trim and it gives a deep glossy shine.

Josh,  I used the NXT tech wax for several years,  it was ok in my opinion.  Meguiar's newer wax,  Ultimate Wax is a better produst IMO,  leaves less residue,  wipes off easy and appears to have a deeper/better shine.   Rick

:agree:  On the NuFinish!

I used it years ago on a black tank that I re-painted with $6 Auot store paint.  After a month or so, I waxed the tank and it looked fantastic!!
I use it occasionally now, but a lot of times use Meguiar's Cleaner Wax (Carnuba).
I've used a variety of Mother's, Meguiar's, etc. over the years and they all performed pretty well.

I found the Spray Mist 'detail' wax from Turtle Wax worked great!  (Platinum Series?)
I'd wash the bike, then dry it off, then touch-up any water spots on the chrome or paint, and wipe dry.
There are a few mist/detailer waxes out there that work great, so I only wax a couple times a year, then use a detailer the rest of the Summer.
